Suryavanshi and Jaiswal are a solid opening pair. I think it's likely that Samson wanted to leave RR and Jadeja wanted to leave CSK so the switch happened. Don't even recall Flintoff playing IPL! But generally they never picked stars in an under-handed manner. They mostly went with rejects from other franchises who re-invented themselves. And they picked Samson when he wasn't really that big a star. This WT20 changed everything but before this he was another good batter. New guy 1

Think sanju himself wanted to leave, RR already has Jaiswal a big Ind prospect and add Vaibhav as well to it. CSK with Dhoni just pushing each year had no big Ind star went for Sanju. It also help sanju too in being in one of the 3 big IPL teams who can influence Ind team selections. It as good move on both sides (Sanju and RR), RR looking to build on new Ind players, sanju is looking for better opportunity which can push him into Ind side. Gollum Posted March 9 Posted March 9 RR brought it upon themselves. One of their owners is a relative of Parag and pushed for Parag to be captain, which created friction with Sanju last season. Don't think Sanju felt respected/valued in that franchise and wanted to move on. New guy 1

Perhaps Smith in 2015 WC but that team was on autopilot mode. Here our batting unit was struggling till they brought back Sanju, that too as opener. I have seen 2 back-to back bangers. Aravinda's heroics in 1996 SF and F come to mind. But 3? So special. Even if Sanju doesn't score a run for rest of life, his legacy is sealed.
