That's just **** urban planning. 

 

Bangalore is especially guilty of this. Building double decker flyovers only moves the chokepoints from one end to another in a city where it's already difficult to improve road infrastructure beyond a point 

 

We should've been investing heavily in suburban rail, metro, buses for last mile connectivity and disincentivising the usage of cars. 

 

But I suppose, it's more important for governments to show the increasing usage of cars is a sign of a burgeoning middle class. 

Suburban rail is a loss making project for many states. Hyderabad MMTS, Bengaluru locals, Chennai MRTS, Delhi Suburban, Kolkata ring rail all are loss making.
Only Mumbai Suburban is able to break even, but that's because Mumbai as a city itself has grown around railway lines courtesy of it's vertical expansion.

Elevated Metro connectivity is the key, but last mile connectivity issue will persist as the stations don't have ample parking space for 2-wheelers, forget about 4-wheelers.

IMO, we need Delhi-Meerut RRTS type project...so that we can draw population away.
Bengaluru-Mysuru, Hyderabad-Warangal RRTS are some of the projects which can cover the distance in 1-1.5 hrs...allowing the movement of crowd to nearby city and free up the chaos.

Public transport and making cities walkable is the need of the hour. In crowded cities like Bangalore, WFH should also be enforced as much as possible.

 

But its also true that many people buy cars especially big cars like Thar etc just for showoff. Atleast true in the north

Fair enough about suburban rail.  I didn't know the specifics.

This is what happens with monopoly or duopoly. Govt should consider inviting foreign airlines to fly in India.

Not a rollback. Just temporary 'relief'. They've been asked to hire pilots till Feb.  No word from DGCA on other airlines hiking prices 3-4X on this.

 

People are losing their luggages, and refund isn't 100%. Total mess
