Reports coming that even Eden gardens will be renovated to be a 80,000 capacity stadium. All these old cricket stadiums should also increase the boundary sizes.

Why don't these morons improve the facilities in the existing stadiums instead of spending billions in building new concrete abominations? 

 

Wankhede's outfield management is an absolute joke and it looks like a club outfield with dry ugly patches everywhere.

D Y Patil cannot be expanded. The service road besides also cannot be reduced. It is not their property first of all and it is a public space which cannot be used.  The ground premises start at the corner of crucial junction. The only way it an be expanded is that they break the existing seating area within the premise which they own, but then there are norms that the firebrigade needs to pass as per mandatory norms for developed property. Space needs to be there betwene the developed property and the wall as well.

Navi Mumbai is the future of Mumbai, the new stadium will be built around the new airport, new airport will have more 5 & 7 stars hotels around, this would be a great investment, D Y Patil is a private stadium owned by DY Patil group, it is not in the control of MCA, MCA are building one of their own stadiums in the future of Mumbai, this will be a great investment for the future.

As per reports,they are looking to build it around the New Airport, could be Ulwe, Panvel, Pushpak Nagar, Kharghar etc. Land aquisition is on its way, havent found a suitable land yet.

so first reduce from 100K to 50K and then want to increase it to 80k... make it make sense

More the work involved-> more tenders floated-> more kickbacks-> more inspections and standards to be met-> even more bribes -> astronomically high ticket prices for mid level work.

Why this obsession with 100000 capacity stadium? Mumbai already has enough stadiums. Improve the current stadiums instead of spending millions on a new one. What ever Mumbai does, all tournament finals will played in Ahmedabad only.

It is not Mumbai, it is Navi Mumbai.

 

As it stands today Mumbai has Wankhede and Brabourne. Wankhede is property of MCA whereas Brabourne is property of CCI. Wankhede has less tha 35K seating capacity.

 

Navi Mumbai has D Y Patil but it is not property of MCA. What seems likely is MCA wants a new stadium in Navi Mumbai which is their own property and a larger stadium so that they can have more bums on the seats and more revenue. A stadium near to the Navi Mumbai International airport will also help.

The player facilities look great but need to see how big the ground dimensions are.
