Is Bumrah having a burnout?

Recommended Posts

I agree with him. Bumrah won us the WT20 and after a few days playing another long tourney. He should've been given an extended break. A tourney takes a lot out of you mentally and physically. Expecting players to be at the peak continuously is not realistic. I say give him 2-3 months off.

I don't know if we would have won it without Sanju Samson in the batting lineup vs WI itself.

IPL is where the money is.... and Bumrah is not burnt out, he is just getting older at 32.

Both. Samson and Bumrah were the MVPs and we wouldn't have won without either of them.

I disagree - Samson was the only MVP. Period. Bumrah and people like Axar (catches in the semi-final) helped a lot.

But that QF was key and it was Samson in that match.

That score was kept manageable by Bumrah's intervention. Bumrah came back and picked 2 wkts in the same over against WI else they were on target for a 220+ score. Against Eng it was the same story and if not for Bumrah, Eng were on target to chase India's total. Both played prominent roles and we wouldn't have won if either one of them hadn't been around.

Hardik     4 0 40 1

Bumrah   4 0 36 2

Varun      4 0 40 1

You see a significant difference? I don't.

Yes he got the Hetmyer wicket but WI were 119/4 at 14.1 over mark and they still got to 195/4.

Eng sf

Hardik   4 0 38 2

Bumrah 4 0 33 1

You see a significant difference? I don't. Pandya and Tilak Verma also got 39 runs off of 2.2 overs. BTW the Brooks wicket was as much or more Axar catch as Bumrah bowling.

Hardik bowled over 19 for 9 runs. Score looks close because Dube just conceded the 19 runs of the last 3 balls after India had basically won the match at 19.3 overs with score out of reach with 26 needed for tie .

Now lets agree to disagree - there are people who see Bumrah's hand as vital in everything India achieves (except the recent test defeats)  but not everyone thinks that.

I think he is mentally switched off.

4 overs in a match and 2 hours in the field should not physically drain you. He barely will bat. So 4 to 6  hours a week.

Typical test bowler will bowl 30 to 40 overs in a single match with 2 days in the field. Thats like 8 to 10 t20 games compressed into 4 to 5 days.

Its a case of hyping yourself up for a "maximum" when you have just won the wc at home in front of 100k fans. Its just not the same.

Skip IPL like Cummins, Starc etc.

You can either take rest in IpL or during test series, Bumrah always chooses the latter.

If you'd seen the game you would've. Simply looking at stats doesn't give you the idea of impact that he had on the game. Bumrah took out Eng's best batter (Brook) in his first spell. And when he came back for his 2nd spell Eng was in with a good chance to win. With 3 overs to go they needed 40 odd. Bumrah's over was the make or break over as the next 2 overs would be Pandya and Dube. But Eng were so scared of Bumrah and/or Bumrah bowled so well that he conceded only 6 runs effectively ending the match with Eng needing 39 off the last 2 overs. Pandya bowled a great 19th overs but he had the luxury of defending 39 off 2. Pandya was great in that too but Bumrah was the one who made the difference.

He was down ton pace in Asa cup too, think he is self-managing now. He needs to play the next wc.

Can not pull-off from IPL so not bowling full tilt.

Bumrah always underbowls in IPL and bilateral compared to important matches. Its one of the ways for him to manage his body

He still bowls enough to be useful to his team but is nowhere near as when he is playing important tests or tournaments.

Bumrah only takes rest when he is injured or recovering from injury.

Jealous losers lying doesn't make it real

Meanwhile Cummins, hazlewood missed the entire ashes and have missed many important test series and no Aussie fans lie like you did.

Tells a lot about you, doesn't it?

I will expose your shamesless lies about Bumrah  every single time you do it

Don't care. He is resting..not bowling at full energy and still playing for his league team. He deserves this rest and money to win us another trophy and a 50 over one this time. He won us 2 WC's FFS.

Ambanis will burn down India before they let Bumrah 'skip' the IPL

100%.all members of our t20 team need complete break .

You just have to watch Bumrah bowl and immediately know he's clearly not 100%. He's an injury waiting to happen even if he tries to bowl within himself. He won't be able to turn down MI and Ambanis and ask for rest. BCCI needs to step up and force Bumrah to take a break. Bumrah is at an age (mid 30s) where a serious injury would be career ending.

He has to be managed till the next WC and for that BCCI needs to step in. If they don't we lose Bumrah. Don't wait for Bumrah to break down completely. Do something now. And I would also extend the same management to Hardik Pandya.

Pandya and Bumrah are the most irreplaceable players and we can't win the WC without either of them. Manage both of them else we can kiss the WC goodbye.

Its okay he is not injured, anyways a bowler needs to practice anyways to remain on top of the game, its not like batting where taking break and playing few good games can un-rust you.

bowler needs certain amount of over to be fully ready. He is smart and self managing that is good too.May be after IPl he takes some rest or may be couple of games off in Ipl too.

Bhumrah and Pandaya needs to avoid injury and still be in practice of game/big games.

You can't have players playing continuously. Body needs a break physically and mentally, say a 2 month period where they don't do anything related to cricket. You can't remain top of the game by playing continuously and they need a break ASAP. I fear another injury for Bumrah and Pandya if they keep on playing continuously.

Even Rabada missed the India test series last year. It is tough for pacers in this era of 3 formats and extended leagues.
