I do think Jurel would be a better ODI middle order bat than Pant, feels better suited to the skill of middle overs accumulation 

 

But the main point is I don't care that much as long as Pant carries on being the test wk-bat GOAT

Bhool jao white ball cricket. Pant's real destiny lies in becoming the true successor of Gilchrist in the ultimate format. Gilly is probably one of 2/3 unamnimous choices for spot in AT XI, Pant is in contention to match that, and bas wahi chahiye ab.

His mindset suits TEsts. Tuk tuk tuk tuk.. out of the blue bang bang . again tuk tuk. then bang bang. This approach neither works in ODI nor in T20.

Its not appraoch issue its the game, he does not have game for white-ball cricket. He tries to to hit the ball but can not because of limitations to his game.

He has nearly 0 off-side game, all he call do is cover drive and cuts which are well protected boundaries in white-ball. So bowling off-side all day will be ok and then he will play a lose shot and get out and as there is no off-side game even if he is on the crease he is not running away with the game.

 

Even on leg-side he can not hit back to back 4/6s as his shots does not cross the boundary that often its either a catch or he is burning his and the batter on other end's energy in running 2s , almost every shot he is either coughing or gasping telling he is not breathing continuously while running and playing shots so the recovery after a run and shots takes time.

In tests It is full time power play. If you look at his dismissals in England he mostly got caught holing out in the deep. Even at MCG he did it. If he decides not to get out he can bat all day. Since scoring rate is not an issue in Tests he can do that. He can also shock you when teams expect you to be defensive. Test dynamics work in his favor unless teams decide to be defensive. He gets out mostly when the team is defensive.

This should be some kind of line up for a ODI WC in SA.

 

Kishan with his left handedness and a beastly spin striking ability in the middle with Iyer.

 

Jaiswal Samson left right combo at the top. If Jaiswal doesn't works get Abhishek.

 

 

Won't happen a 50 overs team without Gill .

Samson should be the ideal backup keeper batter for SA27. Kishan is a spin basher of which we won't see much. Samson is best against pace/extra pace so its no brainer that Samson should be in contention and not Kishan.

our country has rarely produced any sportsman who excels in knockouts.. we found a gem in samson who played three back to back match winning knocks.

3 matches later we have dropped him 

now it looks highly unlikely he will get picked for SA27 where he is best suited to play against quality pacers + bouncy pitches
