Reward Ranji performance? Rest Bumrah? Jaiswal Rahul Sarfaraz Gill Ravichandran Smaran Pant Sundar Aaquib Nabi Harsh Dubey Akash Deep Siraj Reserves: Harshit Rana Kuldeep Yadav Rinku Singh (has an excellent FC record) Dhruv Jurel / Sai Sudarshan / Manav Suthar Man ... this doesn't inspire much confidence, esp if we are resting Bumrah. tweaker Posted May 11 Posted May 11 Bangladesh test should be used to test our bench strength. Those who are playing regularly ie Gill, Siraj, Rahul, Bumrah should be rested. Sarfaraz should be backed for atleast 10 test. Young pacers, spinners should be preferred. KV244 1

They are still competent side in Tests...probably not at the level of NZ, RSA, Eng, Aus..but definitely better than Ban, WI, Afg, ZIM. We dont play Pak so SL is the automatic choice which is at their level in Tests.

Should be/are good all rounders though. Out spin attack needs an overhaul need to prioritise specialist spinners, if they can bat that's a great bonus. Sai, Manav, Jain, Dubey ... I would suggest and could be wrong that Saransh Jain is a better test bowling option than Sundar at home. Lord 1

He seems demotivated because he is not able to be a part of the LOIs. No point in keeping him out of the best format and away from the limelight and lose form there too.

crictime Posted May 14 Posted May 14 Sundar is a liability on the field. Like his catching percentage in international cricket is below average, this IPL too he dropped at least 3 catches. To have someone who bowls only 3 to 4 overs in innings , drops catches and plays one good test knock once in a while does not merits selection. Tanush Kotian also bats at bowls, although he has done that at lower level (Ranji). At least against Afghanistan we can come to know if he is a better fielder than Sundar. Giving him debut against Afghanistan would also ease him into this format and give us first look at his skillset and performance.
