This is nothing do with Gill captaincy effect -- Ind lost multiple test player all at once , its hard to replace years of exp and players in test cricket.

Even an avg. test crickter take years to be that kind of test player. Its nt t20 where you can plug one player or alter the combination a bit on the fly and get balance into the side.

 

Team was already declining and no replacements were in line hence there the issue and the new replacements they got are the player who do not even get into their domestic teams 1st 11.

 

Ind kept losing bowler like -- Sharma/Shami/Umesh and they didnt add any1, Ashwin and Jaddu were aging and they didnt even get a replacement for even 1 of them.

The top oder was always failing and rescue job was done by players like Pant+Ashwin+Jaddu and in some game even fast bowler batted.

 

Ind lost --> rohit/kolhi/rahane/pujara/Ashwin and there were no replacements what elese would have happened, it does not matter how good/bad/avg. they were but there was no replacements and no replacements for fast bowler .

 

rebuilding will take time now and selecting players based on t20 and ipl in test is not going to help, they are looking for quick-fix but adding players who have faced or played with intnl players to bridge the development phase bt this is not going to happen test and t20s are 2-diff formats.

We lost so much time in tests to get new batsmen because Kohli wanted to be accomodated. Even though it was clear that he wasn't up to tests anymore. Atleast 4-5 years spent carrying Kohli as a passenger in tests.

Rahane wasn't very consistent. But he had better test match performance than Kohli. Both rahane and pujara were dropped and Kohli still got chance after chance.

 

I don't mind phasing out rahane and pujara , at some point it had to be done. But the cucks at bcci kept giving Kohli chance after chance.

This "brand" building" is gonna kill us. One would've hoped seeing the new look WT20 team with youngsters will prove we don't need stars and have enough talent to beat anyone. But here we are still trying to manufacture stars!

 

Can't understand why as a performing Indian team is the biggest brand there can be and you don't need to artificially manufacture it

Format illiteracy. Kohli was still performing at a high level in ODIs and pretty well in T20s, staying on the radar and making it look like he was one step away from turning up in tests again. Never happened.
