Nope. There's nobody who can replace Dube at 6. Iyer is replacing SKY and Sooryavanshi will take one of Abhishek, Samson or Ishan's spot in the top order. I think they'll rotate the other 3 so Sooryavanshi plays every match. Rest of the team remains unchanged with Reddy slotting in for Pandya.

Against weaker oppositions rotation is fine but we need to see the plan vs top opppositions..infact We could try different combination in middle order vs them too..

I have a bias to play all 4- Abhishek,Soorya,Ishan and Samson..

Esp Samson with a mature head now..I feel can do better job in MO too aa compared to his past self..

if we are replacing AS with VS then its just a slight upgrade in SR..

if we play all 4 by making some adjustments in MO..if it works out..here we have an opportunity to make the team very very fearsome..

but selectors will go with the route you said as indicated by picking Tilak as VC

You need to have some stability as well plus as you said Tilak is VC so he'll be played at 5. To me Iyer at 4, Tilak at 5, Dube at 6 and Reddy at 7 are set. The only changes would be in the top 3 with 4 players (Abhishek, Samson, Sooryavanshi and Ishan) vying for 3 spots. Given Sooryavanshi is given his debut he should get all the matches so that means Abhishek, Samson and Ishan will take 2 of the 3 spots and will rotate, which makes sense.

No need to put these players in the middle order as their game is built to hit over the top and maximize fielding restrictions in PP. There simply isn't spot for them in middle order and neither is their game built for the same. They're not gonna drop captain (Iyer) and VC (Tilak) and TBH you need these players in the middle order to build on top of the start given by the top order.

What you are saying is our TM thinks..

We know they wont drop Iyer and Tilak after making them Captain and VC resoectively..

What I am suggesting is a counter view..when we say stability we shudnt assume Samson or Kishan cant stabilize MO..who knows with some more marurity even Vaibhav could be a great finisher..these are just T20s only..we dont need players to hang around a lot.. if not try it against weaker sides than against whom?

the current MO or lower order is not very dangerous either it just builds on the momentum of top order..

if at the cost of bit experimentation against weaker side we are going to have a ballistic top 4/5.. its going to cause tremors in opposition..

Abhishek and Sooryavanshi's game is built to take advantage of PP overs and fielding restrictions. Abhishek played nearly 5 years lower down the order in IPL and struggled before finding success as opener. Sooryavanshi is making his debut as a 15 year old and asking him to suddenly play in the lower order when he hasn't done so at any level would be idiotic. You want him to play to his strength and not set him up to fail. We all know how Samson has fared lower down the order and he has finally nailed his spot in the team after his WT20 exploits. Asking him to go down the order will undo all that good work.

Only Ishan is someone who can be asked to play lower down the order but my question is why? Iyer at 4 and Tilak at 5 are certainties. Dube at 6 is the only one who can be replaced by Ishan but what's the rationale? Dube is probably the best lower order batter going around and has shown up every time when needed. Maybe TM can rest Dube for a game and send Ishan lower down the order but I don't see the need given we have likes of Pandya and Rinku available to bat in the lower order. Why fix something which ain't broke? Ishan is great in the top 3 and let him build on his success rather than ask him to change his game again when he has recently made his comeback to the team during WT20.

The easiest and most sensible option is to let Abhishek, Samson and Ishan rotate for the two spots and see which combo works the best. Experimentation for the sake of experimentation doesn't serve any purpose especially when we'll also try to see how Reddy does lower down the order and see if he can be a replacement for Pandya.

Why fix something when it aint broke..

Well then..why we are even playing Sooryavanshi..and breaking the top order..

Tilak was hitting centuries at number 3.. why it was changed too..

Sooryavanshi is not your ordinary batter..you nvr know he may work out as a good finisher too..

Even Samson and Ishan..they both are at  different confidence and maturity level now..esp Samson I more hopeful now..

And I am asking Tilak to play that Dube’s position..else I dont find any strong reason to play him in this xi…Dube’s spin killer role need to be handled by Iyer as well..

This middle order adjustment I am suggesting as for me..

VS+Samson+kishan is minor upgrade over AS+Samson+Kishan

as AS and VS both are very high SR players..

but somehow accomodating AS+VS+Kishan and Samson..that a very very dangerous top 4….

I am not looking to make this team slightly better  but very dangerous..

ofc TM will go with safer option by breaking top order

And Again..if not experiment now then when?

We're playing Sooryavanshi coz he's an opener and an upgrade over any other openers we have. That's not the same thing as him being pushed lower down the order where he has never batted. Two totally different scenarios.

Players have changed their role in the past which worked out well for the team..He is just begining his career..we pnly have seen what he has done as an opener and a prolific one..we dont know he may turn out to be a great MO finisher too..as he has shown some marurity recently..in any case..if he has hopes of playing odi and tests..he will have to show maturity to handle different situations..

..But again..the point..was not only Sooryavanshi who has to bat away from top order..other players too can..and I am hoping more of Sanju Samson to bat at 4..as he looks much mature to me now..

for me AS +VS+ Kishsn+ Samson

is a big upgrade than VS+Samsin+Kishan

if our middle and lower order can be sorted out

Lets say..somehow..SKY..works hard and turns around his form and back to his best ij an year..and we see that in IPL and SMAT..and the same time..Iyer isnt able to give us confidence in T20Is..

can selectors bring SKY back for the world cup??
