express bowling Posted June 27 Posted June 27 (edited) A-team Unofficial Test is going on now. Tracking the scores. We have picked 5 bowlers ( 3 pacers and 2 spinners ) and not a single one of them has either extra pace and bounce or big side spin. Additionally, not a single pacer is really tall. [ Yash Thakur is the quickest but Fast-medium and shortish ] At pre-international level, why do we have to pick almost every bowler who is dependent on favourable conditions to succeed ? Now, this bowling attack may win us this match ... because SL A is a much weaker batting side compared to top international teams. But we won't find the next Bumrah, Shami or Ashwin from this group. Same happens with most Ranji teams or Zonal teams. 95% of the bowlers are either medium pacers or darter spinners. Now people may argue that such bowlers are not always available, especially at state level. But ... 1 ) They are usually available for A-teams and Zonal teams. 2 ) Even when state teams find such bowlers, they are often benched or not given a consistent run. 3 ) Don't think enough effort is put in by the state boards to find such bowlers or develop them when they are found. A-teams are largely filled with quota picks and Ranji / VHT cumulative stats holders, especially when it comes to bowlers. Every fast, bouncy pacer and every big side spinner must get to play atleast 20 First Class games and 30 List A games before their 23rd birthday. That should be the plan from the top. Planning must be made when they are 18 / 19 yrs, to achieve this. Then and only then will they develop enough skills and reduce injuries before their mid 20s. tweaker Posted June 27 Posted June 27 This is too much to expect from our selectors and coaches. They believe in the dialogue from 3 idiots " Jaisa chalta hai waise chalne de" Mosher and express bowling 2
tweaker Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Our selectors are saved everytime because out of nowhere a special talent, prodidy emerges ie Kapil, Sachin, Virat, Bumrah and now Vaibhav Manucrick and express bowling 2

They believe in the dialogue from 3 idiots " Jaisa chalta hai waise chalne de" Which is why I have asked for ONE teeny weeny slot for a genuine quick ... among 3 pacers which we ususlly play. [ Most countries would have preferred atleast 2 slots ]. If we take this A-team test for example ... Nabi deserves to play and Kamboj has to be there for some unknown reason. These 2 are fixed. But the 3rd slot could have gone to a genuine quick with pace and bounce. Similarly, is there any merit in trying 2 spinners who are neither big spinners of the ball or even darters ! Let's use this thread to track missed opportunities in this regard by A-teams, domestic teams and Zonal teams. And also point out instances where teams have succeeded in this regard. Like Ashok Sharma was brought in for one match in the A-team final. Edited June 27 by express bowling tweaker and Mosher 2
tapandrun Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Think directive are there from the top already in regards to high pace bowlers, last season alot of pacers played who in other cases would not have got a game in domestic season. Yes there should be clear directives on it that Ind team needs high pace bowlers, spinner who can really turn and some allrounders. The issue is there no incentive to domestic captain or coaches in doing this. They feel more comfortable with trundlers and spinner who can just hold a line express bowling 1

This has to be inculcated into the system. Not just an one off season thing. But even then, there are very few such bowlers getting chances. Mosher 1
putrevus Posted June 27 Posted June 27 Who are spinners who get side spin .Does India even have one spinner like who can do it.Did India ever had any spinner who could get side spin.

Chronologically Bedi Maninder LSRK Hirwani Bahutule Ashwin Chahal Samar Quadri Manav Suthar And this is not an exhaustive list. People who track spinners can say better. More importantly, state teams must search for such spinners in trials. Currently they just look for darters. Edited June 27 by express bowling putrevus and Mosher 2

They didn't had guts to drop Kamboj and select Gurnoor. Inspite of playing in the odi series and impressing everyone, inspite of playing for GT, inspite of being backed by Gambhir and Gill , Gurnoor was dropped If Gurnoor can't play ,we cannot expect the coaches to back unknown fast bowlers. Against Afghanistan, Ireland, and Srilanka A Gurnoor, Ashok, Tyagi, Mayank, Mishra, Chaudhary, Mohsin should have played. We can only be grateful that Mukesh, Avesh, Jaydeo, Harshal Sandeep, are not playing. express bowling 1
express bowling Posted June 28 Author Posted June 28 (edited) Among bowlers, Kartik Tyagi, Mohsin Khan, Vipraj Nigam and Zeeshan Ansari picked for BCCI Centre of Excellence High performance monitoring program 26-27 https://www.instagram.com/p/DaFTu9KtLOa/ 2 pacers with pace and bounce and 2 spinners who get side spin. Like it. Would have been nice if Ashok Sharma and Mayank Yadav were there too. Edited June 28 by express bowling rollingstoned, tweaker and Mosher 3
rollingstoned Posted June 28 Posted June 28 Ranji teams are not following this because they have their own priorities but there is an emphasis from the TM esp re fast bowlers who are tall. express bowling 1

Most of the so called exfarts don't know anything about the talent milling around in Indian domestic cricket, commies also stealing a living and phoning it in. Guy like Bishop will know much more than them, even Dravid didn't know about jurel and sarfaraz before Eng series by his own admission. express bowling 1

On top of it each domestic team will play medium pacers who almost are out of favour to play for india . You should have at least one guy you identify as a decent prospect to play for india excluding those who were selected and failed badly. express bowling 1

MK55 Posted June 29 Posted June 29 I’ve lost all interest in even following this team. And this isn’t surprising but expected from guys like Agarkar. This moron doesn’t even include them in A teams. May be I’ll start following again if at least 2 out of Ashok Kartik and Mayank are selected somewhere. Our standards are shockingly low. Selection of Gunroor is a positive but that’s simply not enough. Much better things to follow than this BS. I don’t miss it one bit.

And Tyagi has been chosen for COE special mentoring, which is usually a pre-cursor to India A selection. So that's a start. tweaker and MK55 2
