BCCISelector Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Most players looked disinterested from the first ball. Some players looked tired after playing non-stop cricket for the past several months. Not sure why they forced Tilak to play that A team tri-series just days before this series. I'd have preferred to see some new faces, at least they would have shown some hunger and valued the opportunity to play for India much more. The main team could have come in fresher for the England series. Chasing 160-180 type of totals continues to be a problem as these guys know to bat only one way. It is practically impossible to defend 160 against other teams even with brilliant bowling. But against India, every team will know they have a chance because Indian batters will mindlessly slog away their wickets. express bowling, rollingstoned, Vk1 and 2 others 5
zen Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Picking players based on performances purely in Indian conditions (IPL included). Indian conditions toolkit can work in Asia and WI, but not necessarily everywhere else. Lord and tweaker 1 1

Tilak even played some sreenidhi college cricket tournament in Hyd few days ago
Vk1 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 They came with their egos loaded.. they knew about dimensions but didn't care.. most of our fast bowlers are usually brainless but TM definitely knew. It was rich of Gambhir to turn up this way having lost so many test series putrevus 1
singhvivek141 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 ill preparedness is one key thing Samson, Iyer, Axar, Kishan...neither looked ready. Tilak had a horrible show, despite making runs he actually batted like Rahane, totally selfish. Bowling wise except Harshit, neither bowlers looked impressive (except Prince). A lot was expected from Arsh and he failed on conditions which suit his bowling style, Axar didnt even show up. Incorrect format selection is another Prasidh isn't a T20 bowler, and even if he is played, he should strictly be used in Middle overs (6 - 16). Washington has declined as a T20 bowler as well. Those 46 runs of 2 overs were the killer blow in first T20. tweaker 1

He doesn't have Narine , Varun C level bowlers at his disposal which KKR had. Closest is Bishnoi. He didn't play him. New guy 1
The Hound Posted July 1 Posted July 1 (edited) Players didn't took these games seriously, it's not a world Cup. Edited July 1 by The Hound

Not the same captain, which affects batsmen mentally as well. Look at how Bumrah performed under Pandaya when he bowled great on same flat pitches in the world cup. Edited July 1 by New guy

Ishan, samson, abhishek, tilak, dube, all know their places are threatened, they will take it very seriously. I will say making Iyer captain put more pressure on them which is why they didnt perform.
