Taken the opposition lightly

Overconfidence

Gambhir 's involvement in selection

Instead of specialist, preference of wk batsman, bits and pieces allrounders

Backing tried and tested failures, instead of youngster

Unpopular opinion - do you guys think having Gill anywhere in the top 3 would have given us a steady batting output then what it was in this series?. Larger boundaries with a bit of help for pacers and our six hitters had a bit of struggle(I do think they would have done better have they had the time to acclimatize). Isn't this kinda larger ground with a bit of help for bowling ideal for someone like Gill who prefers picking gaps and plays percentage cricket? Kohli would have done well on this kinda track. Gill could do something similar(ofcourse I don't think he could do as good as prime Kohli would). With two dashing openers one of whom should be the unapologetic no half measure approach vaibhav with Gill at top 3 in these kinda tracks would be good know?

Not at all vouching for Gill on pattas. There we have more than enough six hitters to accommodate.

No Vaibhav

For God's sake, stop making this  excuses. This very team won the World T20 just one match ago. Ireland simply played better than us.

Not the same time. We won due to Bumrah. Even 250 would have been chased in semis if not for him

Most of the batsmen are ftbs who enjoyed pitches in WT20. Exposed here. Vaibhav is more talented then them all

Gill is as suspect against moving ball

Batting is same .. we lost because we outplayed. Period.

Same batting in different conditions doesn’t work

batting failure.

Game 2 -- Verma + Axar played nothing like innings verma under 120 sr and axar under 85 sr and this is Irld team not a top t20i team Ind was playing agains

Game 1-- Pradish 4 over 57 runs and Sundar 1 over for 19 accounting to 5 overs 76 runs , this is kind of poor, again this is not a top t20 side ind playing against, And tilak again 21 runs from 19 balls and sundar 9 from 12 balls.

Clearly shows if the wkts are down can not have Verma batting as he completely stops scoring and then add lower power or allrounder kind of batters with him like Axar and Sundar is not a great idea.

Both games Verma kind of got stuck and had a batter along with him who are not known for big hitting themselves. Sundar is in the team for nothing-- They just want him to get a once in blue-moon game to keep him in the side as he did in Aus that ensured him a spot in wc.

1st game can say Pradish was the reason but overall it was a chase-able total and batting failed and 2nd game its all on batting. Ind batting line-up was never ahead of the game.

Our team looks very different without Boom..even to some extent absence of Pandya affects our balance.. these 2 give a really good balance..and form our core the bread of this cake..rest are fresh cream and fruits on the top

This is what I posted in other thread:

Our strength which made us formiddable:

Gun top order

Attacking MO lead by Sky(during his form)

Good ARs lead by Hapa( late orde power  hitting Pandya and Dube)

Dependable pace bowling lead by Boom

Mystery spinner in the middle(penetration in the middle overs)

These features used to make us a very potent side..and ofc all of these didnt use to click together but 3/5 click still were decent enough to beat any associate nation

Now in this series..most of them didnt click due to misc reasons..4/5 failed

1st T20 only top order batting success(Abhishek) other failed success 1/5

2nd T20 pace bowling did well success 1/5

so we need to get back to our strength and get to fix and click min 3/5..

else we will keep failing

■   A player, who was not thought to be good enough to be in the squad earlier, was brought in as the captain.  This might have caused some adverse team spirit issues.

■  Iyer captained poorly. In the 1st match both Arshdeep and Harshit finished their quotas before the last 2 overs. In the 2nd match Harshit did not finish his quota.

■  India took Ireland lightly. Many players were probably not interested in playing this low profile series either.

■  Most of our specialist T20I batters are not that good in bowling friendly conditions. They are super on flat decks. We need atleast one top 3 batter in the squad who is test material. May not play on flat tracks.

■  Our batters need to practice hitting 6s on large grounds.

■  Choosing non T20I players like Prasidh, Washington.

■  Bumrah's absence, when the going gets tough, is a much bigger factor than we think.

Not sure if we need test players in t20s, it just t20 batters needs to find a way to score fast without losing wkt when conditions are bit tough.

And do not need bhumrah is every game , if these players can not win vs Irld or similar teams then there is no point of such bowlers.

GT team exposed a few teams at Ahmedabad. Their traditional batting took them all the way to the final.  Tilak varma is supposed to be the guy who provides that option. He has too many negative skills.

Someone, like say Jaiswal, is a good enough T20 batter while being a good test batter too. Can be in the squad on tours where conditions may not be that batting friendly.

Bumrah should not play bilaterals.

But it is also true that Arshdeep does not have Bumrah's pace to force issues and Harshit does not have high death bowling skills yet.

So there is no one to play Bumrah's role in the end.

Who is going to be dropped for Jaiswal??  Its okay if he plays in mo but he can not.

You do not move away from anchors and say we will play them when needed, it not how it works. In t20s team mold per the combination, add 1 anchor all the player will have to drop sr.

Apart from Dube and Sharma , every1 played a net -ive innings, its better to go out while hitting. Ind batters were not able to hit. Not sure what was verma/axar/sundar's plan while they were batting.

And this is food for thought for selecting Sanju/kishan/Iyer for next WCs be it Odis or t20is.

There will be extra bounce and pace in SA, Aus+Nz.   Plus Aus has bigger boundaries. Need batter who can really hit big boundaries. Hitting on leg-side wont be easy with extra bounce and pace.

Player Runs Scored Strike Rate (SR) Balls Faced
Tilak Varma 74 110.45 67
Abhishek Sharma 50 238.10 21
Shivam Dube 45 150.00 30
Axar Patel 29 85.29 34
Ishan Kishan 13 81.25 16
Shreyas Iyer 13 92.86 14
Washington Sundar 9 75.00 12
Sanju Samson 5 100.00 5

Not sure if Urvil is intnl. quality but he has all the ingredient to be good in Aus conditions-- V.fast bat speed, tall and hit big 6s.
They should develop him, check how he does on faster surfaces.
