vvvslaxman Posted June 15 Posted June 15 Soccer players are divided on mandatory hydration breaks. While they appreciate water in extreme heat, many top players dislike the rule—such as Netherlands captain Virgil van Dijk—because the mandatory three-minute pauses disrupt the game's flow and feel more like commercial breaks than player welfare measures. [1, 2] Why Players and Coaches Dislike Them Interrupted Momentum: Many players feel the stops break their physical and mental rhythm, turning a fluid 45-minute half into a stop-start experience. [1, 2, 3] Commercialization: The breaks coincide perfectly with advertising slots. Some critics and players, like USA coach Mauricio Pochettino, argue that these three-minute pauses are often unnecessary if the weather isn't actually extreme. [1, 2] Unnecessary in Cool Weather: Because FIFA mandated the breaks in all matches (regardless of temperature or whether the stadium has a retractable roof), players find them tedious when conditions are already cool. [1, 2] The Upside for Teams Tactical Timeouts: Despite the complaints, managers often embrace the breaks. They provide a designated window for coaches to gather the team, adjust formations, and give on-field instructions, which has directly led to goals shortly after the restart. [1, 2, 3] Genuine Heat Relief: When matches are played in oppressive heat and humidity, most athletes agree the water breaks are physically necessary to prevent heatstroke and cramping. [1, 2, 3, 4]

Ultimate_Game Posted June 15 Posted June 15 The whole middle east has shown up this world cup - Qatar, Saudi, Iran, Iraq. Even teams like New Zealand, Curacao and Cape Verde managed to make it. Surely India has enough resources to sneak in given the WC is now extended to almost 50 teams! Getting in as one of the top 50 teams has to be doable New guy 1

vvvslaxman Posted June 16 Posted June 16 Only way India will qualify is when other teams start hating football and stop playing :) or they rename the game cricket to football.

Belgium is ranked number 2 in the world just like the previous ones Belgium is Pakistan of Football - filling their boots with cheap points in meaningless bilaterals against weaker sides and then getting shown up in World Cup when full strength teams show up and matches really matter
