Tirunelveli style fish curry and idly is made for each other. It's damn hot and spicy. My telugu friends usually are strictly non-andra mess and we like andra mess more than tn mess.

You've been to Tirunelveli? I lived in Trivandrum for a year, and I've heard a lot about Tirunelveli halwa, it's one of the best sweet delicacies one can taste in India.
MechEng Posted December 11, 2016 Posted December 11, 2016 (edited) Talking about my stay at Trivandrum, I've loved food there though I'm a North Indian. Most may not like it, but food cooked in fresh coconut oil or coconut milk tastes divine, especially coconut oil fried banana chips from the shops behind Padmanabhaswamy temple are very fresh in taste and fragrance. I'm usually a vegetarian but will try non-veg food sometimes to try out local delicacies (as long it is fish or chicken, preferably fish). The fish curry I had in Kochi and Trivandrum had same ingredients but there were some subtle differences in their tastes. I recommend anyone who visits Kerala must try local fish curry. I also had veg. Kothu parotta there, it tasted like shredded naan flavoured with maggi noodles masala, again it's a must try for anyone who visits Kerala or Tamil Nadu. I wanted to visit Kozhikode for amazing food culture, especially the Kozhikodan halwa but couldn't get time. I did buy the halwa from Kozhikode station though, again very fresh in taste and made with coconut oil. Edited December 11, 2016 by MechEng

I heard tomato soup is good from there. Dont ever eat the black bean soup. It looks like they buy those canned beans from walmart and add some water into it and serve it. maniac 1

I am saying from Indian perspective as most Indians are used the tomato soup and Panera's tomato soup is more similar to our our Indian way, the way we make it. maniac 1
