He's not the best one, but Dinesh Karthik. Go back and look at the way he opened in the tour to England and he always faced the new ball when it would swing consistently. His front foot play really opened a lot of eyes.

Tendulkar, without doubt. Others do well too but none can dominate like he can on difficult pitches against good bowling. Some examples - 1st Test v OZ, 2001 at Mumbai 1st Test v SAF, 2000 at Mumbai 4th Test v OZ, 2004 at Mumbai

rahul dravid without any doubt can survive even when he is playing on pitch made out of sand from the moon... but the problem is his strike rate would be a little low. the thing with laxman and especially sachin (as many in the thread have pointed out) is that they dont waste the scoring oppurtunities. they build the innings from a possible crash to a respectable total for the team.

RD/SRT/VVS/GG/VS/MD/YS/HS/ZK/PK/IS/AN/AA in that order.. As few said, if I bet my money first on RD, scorecard will be moving very slow. If SRT, then it will move at better pace (slightly). With VVS (it could be both ways). It will be very hard to say on a give day who will survive. Both are equally good on top. especially in Since 95, SRT has changed lot in this regard. RD has been born like that..I will be always biased toward RD for his best technique.

^ Cant agree more, Tendulkar for sure. My 2 C's put up some good egs up there, add to that the half century when we beat Aussies on a raging turner a few years ago- Mumbai? Nagpur? Dont remember. Clarke to a 6-fer. Amongst loads of others RD and VVSL would be the next two- and both can be excellent in difficult conditions

i think its the expectation levels fans have on him... to see him perform everytime we lose two three quick wickets. it just makes his failures seem larger. but having said that, laxman has made a lot of counterattacking centuries when it was required of him.

Sehwag, Sachin and Gambhir have all proved themselves on swinging and boucny tracks before. One failure is not the rule

Chk out little passages of play from dirty dangerous test wickets, Tendulkar looks the most comfortable batsman. Dravid looks most strong. By far no only India's. but two of the best in the world to face any bowling attack on crazy pitches.
