saneindian Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Actually if you read the whole thing, its Sharda Ugra, an Indian editor at Cricinfo who is making most disparaging comments about Indi being number 1 including the title of the article. Wonder WTF is wrong with her?

vamos_rafa Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 same old white man's problem against India being #1.
achilles Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 same old white man's problem against India being #1. They hate to see #1 in every format and also the #1 in the economics and fanbase of the game.
vamos_rafa Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 They hate to see #1 in every format and also the #1 in the economics and fanbase of the game. Yeah and the thing which is even more sickening is that if they are #1 then no one has the credentials to question it. SA is yest to win a test match in SL I think. And agreed that they have won a test series in Austrailia but even we could have done it but for that B(F)ucknor. The last time we toured SA we won a test match and it was a closely fought series so its not as if we have struggled there. Australia has been on the decline but still the world wants to see it on the summit. But still people have pain to accept this fact.

Assuming we do manage to win our next test series in SA and then Aus, I am absolutely certain the the jokers will start saying India don't clean sweep the opposition like the Aussies did. They will never accept the fact tht we are no. 1.
ravishingravi Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 I think win against Aus and SA will shut everyone.
putrevus Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Cricinfo seems like it has to needle everybody by raising this topic , This is same site which called that SA chase of 438 as classic greatest match of all and SL falling short of 415 in Rajkot has insult to cricket. Sharda like Manjerekar seems to have lot of issues . That Idiot was also saying Champions league was better because it was held it in SA and not in India.

The sad part fricking Bucknor was reason why India could not finish two series on top both in 2004 and 2007 he screwed India big time twice in Sydney ironically.

Commentators and former cricketers would constantly refer to the rankings to convince people. However, these same rankings mean zilch now just because India is #1. I'm sure that if Australia becomes #1 again, the rankings will be "accurate" and if India continues to dominate the rankings, the ICC will be criticised for having an obsolete system of ranking.
Guest Hiten. Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Sickening racists!! You nailed it man.
vvvslaxman Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 Don't know about winning in SA. But India should start winning more tests in a series. Not just 1 test 2 tests. India should have clean swept New zealand in NZ.

India should have clean swept New zealand in NZ. Agreed. We should have beaten England 2-0, NZ 2-0, Pakis 2-0, but our captains are satisfied with 1 test match win in a series.
King Tendulkar Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 So once again, Indi hs to win series in SA and Aus to be undisputed no 1. Australia from 1995-2004 had not won a series in India and SL. Were they the undisputed no. 1 for those 8-9 years? When SA became no 1, they had not won their last two series in India and they have never won a series in SL. Yet they were undisputed no. 1 team in the world!! Sums up the whole hypocricy. Reminds me of when Windies dominated with their hostile bowlers. They actually got the rules changed in terms of bouncers to try and stop their domination. The old colonial powers cant handle things unless the status quo is maintained. Anyway we are NUMBER 1:isalute:
zen Posted September 28, 2010 Posted September 28, 2010 disputed or undisputed, Ind is #1, which is what counts :--D

India should have clean swept New zealand in NZ. I don't think it will happen , Indians just don't go all out to win every match they will play safe first then go for win later especially abroad with that attitude you can never win big. Indians historically don't get whitewashed either because their batting is too good. To win 2-0 or clean sweep even weak NZ team is difficult of India , they just don't have enough bowling fire power. They have become No1 more due to their batting than their bowling that plus playing safe after having the lead in series will alway limit Indians in getting bigger series margins.
Yami Posted January 16, 2016 Posted January 16, 2016 Few minutes ago southafrica beaten by 2/0 in 4 match series, so SOUTHAFRICA no longer number one team.India will be number one inICC test rankingCongratulations India and all ICF members. Mosher, adi B, express bowling and 1 other 4
