Thanks Bradman. The match was so close and you are right about the umpiring. I think all of us would unanimously agree that BCCI needs to really adopt UDRS from now on. It's just not a good feeling to see ridiculous decisions! It was a roller coaster ride and the victory was sweeter for us because we pretty much snatched the match from you after lunch with the 9th wicket partnership. Cricket was the winner in the end with such an exciting game. There are quite a few members here who give up easily and start posting negatively coz someone "feels it in their privates" or in the name of "jinxing". I have never quite understood the latter and the purpose it serves. I guess it makes up for some amusing threads. The Aussie team is known for their never die attitude since a long time, so your fan base is probably more optimistic in crunch situations. We started to get this flavor under the leadership of Ganguly/Kumble and it is now being properly cultivated under Dhoni. I guess the more close matches we win against tough opponents with consistent fighting spirit, the higher will be the confidence level and faith of the Indian fans in the future. Good luck to your team. However, we will be back to make sure that Ponting will not taste victory on this tour. :D

Amazing game bradman99. We here in states had to wake up all night to watch these two strong cricket teams battle it out on day 5 testing pitch. It was some good bowling also from Aussies. Specially hilfenhaus and last coupule of overs from Johnson. Hence that knock of Ishant Sharma makes it much better sinces it was a very hard to stay on the crease with Hilfy and Johnson swinging every 2nd delivery. Great game. Laxman the hero.

Cheers Mate. What do ya reckon about the team composition of the Aussie side ? In terms of batting, they do lack someone who can take th game to the opposition. I would get in Jacques and Marsh. In bowling, Siddle should have been picked.

As for batting I'm pretty happy with ours at the moment except for North who I think shouldn't be there, although he tends to get a big score when I start to criticise him. It would be strange to put Watson down the order considering how well he is doing and Katich is also a rock up there so there is no need for another opener and if we were to change it I would want it to be either Hughes or Jacques, I wouldn't consider Marsh! All the Indian fans seem to love him! haha

Agreed about Siddle, he is a good bowler don't think he offers anything more than the trio that bowled at Mohali (and they were extremely good). As regards his fitness, he hasn't played FC cricket since January I think so needs to prove himself there. On your batting, North definitely has to go (maybe play the opener Hughes at 6 or bring in Khwaja) but are you happy with Hussey? He has made just two centuries in his last 50 innings. He is surviving on that awesome start to his career from 2005-2008, but since then it has been a steady decline. Even his centuries came in a lost cause (final Ashes Test 2009) and the other one was in that game the Pakis allegedly threw at Sydney, when Akmal dropped him three times. Ponting is also past his best and his arrogance in continuing to play the pull shot freely keeps costing him. But can't see who would replace him, Ponting is still a decent bat, just not the dominant one he was a few years ago.

To be very honest of all Aussie batsmen I have seen recently, this guy has the complete package. Good of the front and back foot. Plays the spinners well. Can attack when he has to. He has to be groomed in the aussie line up. I would back him. Hussey is a worry. But in Australia against the English Attack he will be a different propositions. While Bollinger bowled well in the second innings, I think Siddle is a more long term prospect. I think he would have used the "reverse" swing better. Hauritz just needs to learn how to bowl in India. I hink watching some domestic cricket would have done him a world of good.

Can't wait for the 2nd test. I hope the Indian team doesn't get complacent having retained the trophy, because you just know Australia are going to come back with a vengeance. It was interesting watching the difference in the two bowling innings by Australia. When the pitch got hard and the moisture was gone in the 2nd innings the inexperienced Aussi bowlers looked a lot more threatening, the same way Ishant was when he was getting the ball of hop off a length.

As regards Hussey, I can understand your view, he was brilliant in the first half of his career and is a great team man by all accounts, but unfortunately he has been poor for too long now and at 35 it is hard to see him arresting that slide.

Lol good one , Ian Chappell is one who supports Ricky as a captain , he thinks he is better captain than Steve Waugh. This same guy who criticized Mohd Yousuf to death after Sydney test for not attacking Hussey and giving him easy singles there by releasing all the pressure on Hussey. What the hell did Ricky Ponting do here in this test, he let Laxman take easy singles and did not even look to get laxman out, so where is he hiding now.
