He is raking in millions in IPL, and probably he'll be an IPL expert and focus on that for 2 months in a year, cowlash some on Indian patta for 2 months, and enjoy his time rest of the year with girlfriends, vacations etc. In fact, unless there is serious commitment to fitness and playing for the country, we might end up with quite a few next gen yengsters as IPL experts for 2 months, and happily enjoying the rest of the 10 months. Long live the circus culture.

Then freakin guy has a brain fart. It's annoying that guy with such ability keeps failing and having brain farts. I hope he racks up tons of runs for next 1 whole season and then is given chance. We like his style, but to hell with it. There are others who deserve chance. So it's better if selectors show him the door for atleast one big season.

Rohit had the gift attributable only to the geniuses among batsmen -- a LOT of time to play his shots at such a young age. When i saw him in Australia back in 2008 (?) and then later in the IPL, i thought we had unearthed our next Tendulkar. To me it was just a matter of when and not if, he would find a test spot. But IPL has totally spoilt Rohit. If am 21, i get boatloads of money for a one month gig every year & my market value is proportionate to the number of sixes I hit, I'd be spoilt too. Kids like him need to be desperate to break into the team. Their life should depend on it. That is how you bring out the best in them. Not by handing them a million dollars on a platter with the security of such an annuity stream for a decade. If Rohit gets dropped I dont even know if he will be hurt anymore. Why will he go through all the trouble of traveling, keeping himself fit, fighting for form, copping all the media criticism, being told off by coaches/captain etc trying to play for his country ? BCCI needs to put a strict salary cap in IPL, esp for Indian youngsters. Otherwise it is just a matter of time, before IPL bull dozes all forms of cricket in all countries. And lets forget about Rohit, he aint coming back. Take away his IPL contract, all the girls and the fame - he might. But not with so much going for him on the side.

He just had a good p'ship with Tendulkar in Australia in finals, and had scored that fifty against south africa in 2020 07 wc. Thats about it. He never was consistant back then either.

Only thing to do is keep him out for 2 years, if he has to desire to play for India, he'll work hard and come back otherwise let him be

People like SRT, Dravid, Kumble - these are once in a lifetime players - not just for talent and ability, but also for their dedication and also for ALWAYS having a balanced view/keeping their feet on the ground. Average Joe like Nohit sharma will find it harder not to be affected by Circus Culture. Undeniably, I.Pu.L will have a detrimental effect for next gen Indian crictukters...A few exceptions will survive that. I hope Pujara survives, I hope Kohli survives and hopefully a few more emerge.
