sir ji Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 doesn't he plays in the IPL? if not, just the right time for him to be in the limelight as the IPL auctions are just a few months away. Can expect a hefty IPL contract.
JourneyMan Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 He plays in the IPL, don't ask which team because you'll laugh if I tell you.
maniac Posted October 7, 2012 Posted October 7, 2012 Top 3 batsman on current form across all formats 1-Kohli,2-Samuels,3-Amla
vvvslaxman Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 "I only faced him one time [in the IPL] in the first game against Mumbai [indians], and he got me out bowled," Samuels said. "I was very upset. This was my time today to get back at him." -
daryl1985 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Top 3 batsman on current form across all formats 1-Kohli' date='2-Samuels,3-Amla[/quote'] Would go Amla-Samuels-Kohli. Kohli number 3 because the other 2 have done more in test cricket this year against tougher opposition.

daryl1985 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 hmm is samules that good ? also where does clarke stands? he has been pretty darn good! Clarke has been very good. But i do think Samuels has been very good. His performances in the England tests were outstanding, i am possibly overrating him but he has been in excellent touch recently. Had Kohli played more tests against good opposition, he would be above him because his batting in ODI's has been god-like this year.

vvvslaxman Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 Marlon's 78 vs ... an interesting comparison i found on caribbean forum Marlon's 78 vs Viv's 138 vs Lloyd 102 all came in one world cup final or other. one post goes like this I saw all 3 innings, the first one live and direct and the other 2 on TV.First of all one can not easily compare a 20/20 knock to ODI knocks, particularly those ODI knocks from back in the day. However even taking that into account I would say that marlon's innings was the best of the three. The other two were played on true wickets where lots of runs were scored.Other batsmen scored significantly in the two previous matches whereas marlon stood out by scoring 57% of the runs and more than twice the next highest scorer in the match. To think that when he was dismissed for 78,the score was 108 is MIND-BOGGLING!!!!! I HEREBY BOW TO WALLY!!!!!!!! what do you think.
The Outsider Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 That it's a joke to compare a T20 innings to an ODI innings, specially during the times of 60 overs, no field restrictions, no powerplays, no restriction on bouncers etc.
Clarke Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 78/108 isn't mind boggling at all considering the batting line up. Who's the best overall batsman there, Gayle ? Would he make it to the ATG WI side that is being compared here ?
daryl1985 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 nah i dont think kohli should be in contention yet... maybe after england series :winky: but i think there have been better players clarke has been awesome in odis and tests...was comfortable at home played ajmal and co very well in sharjah dust bowls and his innings vs south africa... damn that was special! almost as good as kp's knock... but only diff was it didnt had big shots of kp jsut classy innings Great innings but that was 2011 wasn't it. But your right Clarke is a great shout.
daryl1985 Posted October 8, 2012 Posted October 8, 2012 I thought it was a seriously good knock. Haven't seen the other 2 but given the fact that they were facing the hosts of the tournament in front of a passionate home crowd, Samuels knock with wickets falling around him was stunning.
