urbestfriend Posted July 12, 2011 Posted July 12, 2011 I dont think so, swann will be definitely a factor. I know we are very good player of spin but Swanny is too good a bowler not to be a factor.
Chandan Posted July 14, 2011 Posted July 14, 2011 http://www.spincricket.com/2011/07/06/preview-of-the-india-squad/ I think most of the important members of Indian team are coming either after a long lay off, injury break or very little acclimatisation. This first practise match is going to be utmost importance to all, all I suppose. Which three seamers will play?

WC2011INDIA Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 http://www.spincricket.com/2011/07/06/preview-of-the-india-squad/ No wonder Roger Federer lost Wimbeldon 2011. :cantstop:
Show_stopper Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 I canpicturise him losing it if this happened in a match. I don't know if SS is ready for Test cricket yet. Zaheer we know wouldn't be going at full tilt in practice games.
Trichromatic Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 What the phuck was he doing in the NCA? Enjoying different types of foods and delicacies. :hysterical:
DeepFineLeg Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 Dhoni's prematch comments make it clear that Mukund will be opening. So its basically a pick between Raina/Yuvraj
Cricket Tragic Posted July 16, 2011 Posted July 16, 2011 I won't be surprised looking at him. :cantstop:
zen Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Tour game: Just saw the scorecard :hitler: Indians vs Somerset bowlers picks up just 5 wkts .... Batting except for Raina's performance was a no show Hopefully this is the first game of the series thing and we pick our game at Lords This is mainly from perspective of performances of key players, i.e. Zak, Sree, GG, Ten and Dravid .... No matter what the pitch, would have expected a much better performance against Somerset Anyways, team for the first test: - Mukund - GG - Dravid - Ten - Lax - Raina / Yuvi :dontknow: - Dhoni - Bhajji - Zak - Ishant - Sree What is the take on Mukund? Is he shaping up well at the international level? Would having Kohli in the squad too been a good option, esp. since Veeru is likely to miss a test or two.
NareshK Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Mukund is the only regular opener in the squad other than Gambhir and Sehwag. So he will be in the side. He looked decent in West Indies in his debut series but it will be interesting to see how he does in the overcast, swinging, seaming conditions in England against a good bowling attack. It wont be easy for sure. Raina has probably earned his spot ahead of Yuvi based on his performance in the WI series and also this tour game. He has to watch out for the short deliveries targeted at his body but he seemed to have coped well against them in WI but England have a much better, accurate pace attack who will try and exploit his weaknesses. A word about the bowling. Sree seems to be a bit rusty going by his performance in the warm up game. So it will be interesting to see if they retain him ahead of Praveen who did decently in WI. But I cant see Praveen troubling England batsman with his military medium pace but he does have the ability to swing the ball both ways. He also doesnt have a lot of experience at the international level. What about Munaf ? Will they give him a go ? The rest of the side pick themselves.
hitman1980 Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 It has to be praveen kumar in final 11 ... He did performed exceptional well and deserves a place atleast for the 1st test to build on tht performance ..
zen Posted July 17, 2011 Posted July 17, 2011 Selectors seems to have made mistake where they have picked an injured batsman w/o proper cover (reminds me of that 1st test against SA at Nagpur where we played Saha as a batsman, probably could have gone with an extra bowler) If we want to be brave: option 2: - Dravid (not a popular move but if Mukund is getting 10s-20s, Dravid is opening anyways) - GG - Ten - Laxman (key batsman in the absence of Sehwag) - Raina - Yuvi (also serves as a fill in spinner who could try to leverage on the rough outside leg) - Dhoni - Bowlers option 3: Play Mishra has the fifth bowler in place of Mukund in the team in OP
