ravishingravi Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 I think, I have a mild case of OCD which I have probably inherited. I also used to get really paranoid over my health. But Vipassana more or less changed that
Cricket Tragic Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 sleeping disorder - the one where you can sleep anywhere anytime for however long. :P once I am asleep, I have (at least used to) some weird dreams, some of which include: 1. walking around naked and suddenly realizing I have no clothes on 2. finding myself back in college cause I didn't actually finish all my coursework and need to finish a few units before I can graduate 3. covering up evidence after killing someone (the someone isn't always clear from the dream) 4. missing a train, jab we met style typically, i wake up for a few secs after the dream, only to realize that it was after all just a dream, only to go back happily sleeping again. These aren't really weird tbh.
akshayxyz Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 ^ agree... fairly common, are those 3. I still get dreams about class X board exams, and many times sequel to a dream I have dreamed years ago.
flamy Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 Exam dreams are pretty common. Look it up. As for me, I don't know what it is called, may just be a mild case of OCD. I get "irrirated" when people's movements are not what I expect them to be. I know that is too abstract. Like, in cricket, if a bowler's action changes a little bit, I get really frustrated :P Argh, I'm getting frustrated trying to explain it
Trichromatic Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 ^ Most of the dreams comes to be true within 2-3 years. I often feel very weird about this. I see some places or hear piece of conversation or event during dreams and remember it for long time. When I almost forget that, I hear same words or same thing happens and suddenly for a moment I feel very unusual. I never tell this to anyone here because then people will think that I'm making up stuff for fun. I rarely dream.
Vijay.Sharma Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 what mental disorders do you have, whether officially diagnosed or just suspected? i'm convinced i am a schizoid. any fellow schizoids out there?Technically (and factually) there is no definite "order" that the mind is supposed to be in, for us to then have the possibility of "disorder". I think all of us are schizos to a certain level and the intensity of the experiences vary thru out life. I honestly believe that humans are not single personalities...we or for that matter any other animate things just cannot be a single personality if the universe is relative. Personalities, our responses, our behaviors keep changing in time, space, perspective, context - sounds philosophical but hey I am not sure any mind in this world can dispute this fact. I think this question raises a very important aspect of our current societal values. We believe, quite falsely as can easily be shown, that there is a set defined "normal" or "orderly" existence for a human being. This is possible to create artificially i.e. machines but there is no such thing for any sentient beings. Therefore, it is necessary for us to recognize and acknowledge this aspect of existence - every life is totally unique and is perfectly normal - the existential dichotomy, as it were.

I used to have them for the first few years of my professional life...and they were not dreams. They were actually nightmares. I mean it! I don't know how the eff I passed my grad and post grad exams man. These were serious nightmares...very disturbing. Typically the situation would be - I have to go back and write those exams otherwise I will lose my current job. I discussed this with me friends many times and even they get it and even they feel these are nightmares more than dreams...lol! Guess it had to do with how seriously we took our studies...just one or two weeks before the exams we would run around to find the books and all...lol!
yoda Posted September 8, 2011 Posted September 8, 2011 ^^I agree it is more of a nightmare than just a simple dream. Good part is the relief when you wake up, realizing it was just a dream.

coffee_rules Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 sort of a quirk than a disorder. The first time I heard conservative Radio host - Rush Limbaugh, I was in the car eating fried chicken (KFC). Now, everytime I hear him on the radio/internet/TV, I have a great craving for fried chicken. I always remeber that day eating chicken and I feel like ordering in from KFC.
Ram Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 I am completely flummoxed by mirror images. For example, If I stand in front of a mirror, place my hand on my head and try to run my hand to another spot on my head just by looking at the mirror, I am hopeless at it.
akshayxyz Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 Sometimes I get overexcited over various ideas (mostly tech), and start taking notes.. many times end up staying awake through the night. some times excitement is shekh-chilli types.

akshayxyz Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 one more - I get restless when I become conscious of someone making tea-slurping noise., and try to move as far away, as and if I can.
Ram Posted September 9, 2011 Posted September 9, 2011 And why exactly would you want to do that? :nervous: Its actually a very good test of how well co-ordinated you are.
