Temujin Khaghan
Whether he likes it or not it is going tag along him. He should stay as Stuart Broad' date=' Vettori, Bhajji. Even Kumble has got a 100. But never considered himself as an all rounder. He focused mainly on bowling. Hope Ashwin does the same.[/quote'] Ashwin is a proper batsman. even gavaskar praised his mindset and shot making ability... he is far superior to all those names above.. not just by talent but the way he thinks about himself. he doesnt play like a bowler and try to make some quick runs. MCcricket
Ashwin is a technically sound gifted bat who had improved on his shortcomings successfully unlike Raina ie short balls, he is more successful in test because he has the game for it and is not a hack, I want him to score a 50 in odi. I can see him batting in the top6 at some point in his career Link to comment

Laaloo
His primarily job is to be a bowler. We have 7 other batsman to score runs for us. It's useless if he doesnt pick up any wickets or get important breakthroughs but chips in with a 30-40. Link to comment

Frankly he is better than most of our top order batsmen. Unless you have a spinner that is completely in a different league from Ashwin we have to persist with him as he has a sharp cricketing brain. Frankly i don't see any offie better than him. Link to comment

Gives us an option of playing one more bowler ...its not such a bad thing imo . Link to comment

Unimportant coz our ODI lineup is pretty good and usually bats out 50 overs and difficult coz Ashwin comes in late so can hardly score 50. Link to comment

For me the only question is , can he get big hundreds ? Thats normally the difference between a top order bat and lower order batsmen . He has the technique to score overseas , but in India you need to score big to win test matches . Link to comment

rkt.india
He wont be very useful in ODIs . Lacks the big shots . Jadeja has more attacking shots than Ashwin . He showed all his big shots against RR in SF against the likes of Faulkner, Watson etc. He has improved that aspect of his game scored 46 of 28 balls with 3 sixes that surprised everyone and first time we saw Ashwin bat like that. Temujin Khaghan
anyways this should be our starting lineup in saffer test series dhawan murali pujara kohli rohit dhoni ashwin jadeja/ umesh zaheer bhuvi shami the weakest link is vijay our weakest bowler will be jadeja/umesh far better than ishanth... our lower middle order is solid with dhoni + ashwin + jadeja best thing is that rohit wont be shipwrecked with the tail like laxman on previous occassions... there is good chance for rohit to score centuries with this support if everything goes fine we should win 15+ in our next 25 tests with 5 losses and 5 draws Link to comment

There may be pitches where Ashwin is capable of outbowling jadeja. Jadeja sure has a slight edge there. But only slight. Link to comment

rajkanwar321
:hmmm: True. But the real question is can he bat when team is 50-5 in overcast conditions on a green and bouncy wicket in fourth innings when team is chasing against quality bowling line up.:--D Link to comment

No need of four pacemen, three is enough. HOME/SL/WI - Dhawan Vijay Pujara Kohli Rohit Dhoni Jadeja Ashwin Zaheer/Umesh (for reverse) Shami Ojha AWAY (SA/ENG/NZ/OZ) Dhawan Vijay Pujara Kohli Rohit Rahane Dhoni Ashwin Bhuvi (Helpful conditions + Shorter tail) Zaheer/Umesh Shami Link to comment

King Tendulkar
I dont think there is question mark anymore Ashwin is a genuine test all rounder. His batting oozes class, just so elegant and seems to have so much time to play the shots. VVS like. Those two pull shots he just played were classy, so much ease. Genuine test all rounder, we are very lucky to have him Link to comment
