vvvslaxman Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I have heard of brainstorming where everyone throws up all kind of ideas. We are seeing more of "ass storming" here where everyone tries to pass "farts" as ideas.
India-KXIP fan Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 I am pleasently surprised by the class and technique shown by ashwin from last few test macthes. He seems to have lot of time when facing pace bowlers. There isn't too much fuss when on the crease. He does look to me as someone who keeps the game simple. Sometimes, he remind of laxman as far as lazyniess, style, technque and also clamness. Don't make any mistake, i am not comparing the class yet. Since, sehwag willing to move down the order and ashwin already had some experience as opener, it shouldn't be a bad idea to try it out. If it works out, nothing like it. If it doesn't, then swtich back to sehwag- gambo pair........ He was a opener in first class cricket. But I still feel Harbhjan is a better pinch hitter up the order than Sehwag :winky: But srs we have to try a youngster who has performed well overseas with U-19, domestic cricket. And plays fast bowling very well.
Ultimate_Game Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 People have such short memories  They have already forgotten the failed Irfan experiment We need wkt taking bowlers more than batsmen so nope let Ashwin do what he's doing right now.
ShebbySB Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Why do u want to mess a guy's career who has barely strarted as an all-rounder. Ar best he can bat at no.7 in the test level. We want wickets from him,if he gets runs then that is a bonus.I'm sure he'll develope into a bowling allrounder but for that u've to let him be......... to u & yes I be the coach of Indian team?:giggle:
jusarrived Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 :)) :)) While I do think Ashwin is better than a lower order bastmen , probabaly good enuf to to play at No7 for most teams ..this is taking it a bit too far .
jf1gp_1 Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Read the title on the main page thought its a discussion about ashwin opening bowling in test cricket while at it could we also see if he can keep wickets?
SLICKR392 Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Aaaand people are still discussing about it :giggle:
bablankalhan Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 :cantstop::hysterical: How about Munaf Patel.....even Dhawal Kulkarni can open ?
Jersey #10 Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Him and Srisanth would do justice I think :haha:
Ultimate_Game Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Aaaand people are still discussing about it :giggle: Slow day today :haha:
bablankalhan Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 what about Aaron and Umesh Yadav....they won us an ODI last year against Windies !:two_thumbs_up:
Ultimate_Game Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 what about Aaron and Umesh Yadav....they won us an ODI last year against Windies !:two_thumbs_up: Make them 3 and 4. I say let's revert the batting order with Zak entertaining us with his "kill the fly" imitations and Ashwin can regale us with his quick running between the wkts :haha:
bablankalhan Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 Make then 3 and 4. I say let's revert the batting order with Zak entertaining us with his "kill the fly" imitations and Ashwin can regale us with his quick running between the wkts :haha: :giggity:

Although I must say he definitely looks a very good batsman.
maniac Posted September 4, 2012 Posted September 4, 2012 The OP's theory is not as ridiculous as some of you are making it out to be 1)Ashwin started his career as an opener at the junior level 2)We have tried Irfan Pathan as an opener in the past in Australia of all places But on a personal note Hell NO
