What is the greatest number of runs scored by an individual team in a single day in a Test? Was it the first day of the Headingley Test of 1930 when Don Bradman hit 309 by himself? asked Greg Lee from Australia Australia scored 458 on the first day of that match at Headingley in 1930, and Don Bradman's 309 runs that day are a record by one batsman in a Test. But two countries have scored more than 500 in a single day's play. On the second day against South Africa at Lord's in 1924, England moved from 28 for 0 to 531 for 2 declared: that record stood for more than 78 years, until Sri Lanka smashed 509 on the second day against Bangladesh in Colombo in 2002, going from 32 for 0 to 541 for 9. The overall record for runs in a day's play in a Test is 588, by England (398) and India (190) on the second day at Lord's in 1936. Number one ranking is proving manhoos for the teams, first India and then England and now SA, people expected A to stay there for long, but they have falttered to deceive till now after getting that ranking.:winky:

Even Indian bowlers were not treated with such disdain last time.... Yes, we got a pounding from Warner at Perth (acknowledgements to speed demon Vinay Kumar) but we recovered from it after a terrific spell of reverse swing from Yadav.

Ridiculous that Smith kept bowling Imran Tahir despite going over 7 runs an over. What's the point of setting an attacking field when bowler doesnt look like getting a wicket ? Brainless stuff.

for all innings
Interesting because when teams score more than 5 RPO in an innings its considered a flat track and the game will end in a draw, but it has resulted in wins most of the time for the batting side.
