Yoda-esque Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 It is the BAAP of all sitcoms anywhere. Never was, and never will be another like this. Ironically though, the character Jerry Seinfeld was the weakest of the 3 dudes. Kramer is my hero and inspiration of course Absolute BAAP..No question.It produced many pop culture references and characters. Jerry Seinfeld was supposed to play the toned down character though to bring out the insanity of the rest of the cast.

maniac Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Seinfeld is probably one show that never had a bad episode Lol....Definetely the greatest Sitcom ever George Costanza is probably the most complex and greatest supporting character of all time.....Unfortunately,I think Jason Alexander who played Geroge is the only one not to win an EMMY among Seinfeld cast.

You could say that as Friends catered to much wider audience with drama elements added to it from time to time. Not a big fan of it. I like King of queens more. Seinfeld definitely is a timeless classic where you don't see a single sentimental scene right through 9 seasons. That is my all time favorite.

vvvslaxman Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Thats the best part .It is completely irreverent. After getting inundated with too much over-emotional scenes in bolly movies, bolly dramas not surprisingly most desis love Seinfeld. It is a breath of fresh air.

Friends had very few sentimental moments as well. Maybe one or two per season. The reason it clicked was the amazing chemistry that the lead characters shared. King of queens and other run of the mill sitcoms dont even come close to Friends IMO.

It definitely appealed to me a lot typical to vanna kolangal of S V Sekar drama where father in law staying his daughter's house. I have seen it gazillion times each episode. Timing is awesome from Kevin james and Jerry Stiller. Again it is subjective. I look for raw. self-deprecating comedy. For that matter even George Lopez is funny. Every sitcom definitely has some funny elements. TAXI from the 80s, Becker from the 90s..
Lurker Posted January 2, 2013 Posted January 2, 2013 Seinfeld would be right up there. I always liked it for the great side characters that it had. Folks like Newman, Advocate Jackie etc were hilarious and always left you wanting for more. Even Seinfeld and George's parents were often amusing. Definitely a show worth watching even in reruns. Friends on the other hand was a complete Suraj Badjatya productions. Good looking yuppies living in Mahnattan and surviving on nothings. Yeah right! The writing was great and comic timing was brilliant for most actors, but it was far removed from reality. Seinfeld scored on writing as well as a sense of realism.
