Last 12 tests : 16 wicket at an avg of 80 and SR of 146. What's the point of keeping him in the side. We can have a batsman who can bowl some part-time. Won't do worse job than what Ishant is already doing.
panther Posted February 24, 2013 Posted February 24, 2013 I think he deserves the whole series at least he doesn't take wickets but he only goes at 2.5 an over which is required with the spinners doing most of the bowling.

Just runs and bowls, has no idea of how to plan and get out a batsman. He's the equivalent of a striker in football who never scores - totally useless, a liability and its effectively playing with 10 players as he can do nothing else.

His shameless smile after every leaked boundary, just makes my blood boil. He nearly cost us that 3rd odi against Pakistan If I remember. There is always a ball he bowls every over that will go for 5 wides. Even after that, he will shamelessly laugh it off...it is pathetic.

bharat297 Posted February 25, 2013 Posted February 25, 2013 Yeah to be honest, he shows glimpses of good bowling in the last series against England, and I thought he was worth backing but it's time for him to take a break and go play a season of county cricket in England. It's difficult being a pure seam bowler in subcontinent conditions. Not many pure seam bowlers have had great success in the subcontinent. Since he plays at least 50% of his games in the subcontinent, it's very easy to get your natural length to be too short (because in India if he bowls full he'll get smashed) as he just goes into containment mode. When he leaves the subcontinent, he struggles to adjust his natural length. To overcome this he needs to add more to his repertoire. In India you need to be able to swing the ball to take wickets, and he needs to go away for a little while and learn to swing the ball. If Dinda can get good swing (I haven't seen him bowl much in Ranji), he might be worth a look in for the next test. This is obviously only if Zaheer and Yadav are both injured.
