There were lot of matches where in tough conditions when Vijay would get out and Mukund will fight out the conditions So not a bad idea to try Mukund to partner vijay if Dhawan continues to struggle imo He looked really poor when he played Tests in 2011

Vijay looked always solid in Tests before that IPL slogging started affecting him. Another problem Vijay had was not knowing where his off stump was partly because he did not have enough patience. Then he switched his style back to original style.

Gollum Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 His judgement outside off stump is extraordinary. The way he leaves is also exemplary. In these 2 departments haven't seen any opener as proficient as Mooli Bhai, even Smith and Cook fall short.

At least put a price on his wicket, also scored a hundred in a tour game. Was harsh to drop him, however he can work his way to the team again. Needs to score heavily in Ranji.
Gollum Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Mukund is someone the selectors have to keep an eye on.He was okish in the England series 2011, far better than Sehwag and Gambhir at least. His technique is iffy but again he has the proper attitude to test cricket and patience. Look at his hunger to do well in tests, he even plays county cricket which no doubt will help him become a much better player. Him and Vijay will be the ideal fit(esp overseas) and since both of them play for the same state their understanding will be very good like Viru-Gambhir.

Indian selectors were really stupid that tour. Also remember how they drafted in RP Singh when he was in vacation in Bahamas. Srikanth selection was good for WC 2011 but other than that he was a complete disaster.
