M Vijay's misery in ODIs

now you just sounding butt hurt... KT and I are actually agreeing..about not being wrist slitters...and give value to Indian test wins in India against Aus.
I'm sorry......but I'm going to have to accuse you of being a troll humour hater...... Back to being serious for a minute, I agree with the fact that Mooli should be given a chance......I just don't think he will succeed.....you on the other hand are on a paranoia induced crusade against people who don't agree with your opinion, accussing them of being anti-tamil and what not......people have differing opinions......learn to accept and live with it.......

can you change your avatar. I keep wanting to bounce up and down. Lets be frank in this discussion. After all the chances Vijay is average 38.5 with the bat in 16 tests over a 5 year period since he was first selected. Bulk of his runs are against Australia in India. We have 3 tests v SA coming up followed by 2 tests v NZ followed by 5 tests v England. Now to be frank if he can maintain an average close to 40 i think he has done well and India have found a decent if not great opener. But lets wait on this. in 7 tests played away from home he averages 19 with the bat. He is currently 29 and will be nearly touching 30 when the SA series starts.
:--D I'm saying give him a chance in SA......I've said it multiple times......the fact that I don't think he will succeed is purely my opinion.....

and i agree. Mooli has earned his shot for tests in SA. i also agree that i find it hard to believe he will succeed.

India has lost only 1 test out of the 16 he has played in his career :omg: needs to get a free ride as a lucky mascot alone going by how things have been going for us pre-Aus tour

Looks like he will get to play his first match. We will have to keep an eye on his number of dot balls. I am not analyzing his technique here. Not taking singles don't mean not having technique. It is a skill related issue specific for ODIs. Playing the ball soft hands into gaps and going for quick singles. I don't deny he has some skills in limited over. When in flow he can eke out giagantic overs. He did okay in List A last season. Considering how he struggled througout IPL despite constant faith shown in him by Dhoni , i think it is also an issue of adaptability to different formats.

Good analysis about M Vijay OP. he is purely here based on IPL performance. It is a disturbing trend... 11 ODIs and below 18 batting average have been more than enough to seal the fate of cricketers... He has been indeed given a long rope. This CT tourney should be his very last chance.. and if he averages below 43 or so.. he should be kicked out and never included in the national side again.
p.s. Should I mention that I am Tamil?

Problem for Vijay is that he had tons of haters before the Aussie series with many openly shouting bias when he was picked for that series. He threw egg at their faces and they sheepishly agreed that they got their asses handed down. Now that he has been picked for the next series, it is a repeat of the same hate sequence. It will be the same for SA series no matter whether he does well here or not. Some will claim he has no technique, others will scream CSK bias, yet others will say he is a show boat with no tailunt to show on the field. No matter what the reason, the common theme is absolute hate for the guy. When even guys like VVS had haters throughout his career with people posting monkey face images to mock his facial expression when he got bowled in tests, I am not surprised at the shyte thrown at a nobody like Vijay.

I don't get it. This squad is pretty much the same squad Raina captained to Zim in 2010. All the guys here are our official B team. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/content/squad/459060.html Our selectors have always looked at these guys here as our backups I believe. No one is here because of IPL alone.

Mridhul Vijaykar was also selected in the team purely based on his performance in International Paadhmaaring League.

Several times in the past - after his effusive threads fell flat - dsr (KT) has run away with the tail between his legs once his glorious predictions turn out as damp squid

Fair enough.....he proved us wrong in the Test series.....he deserves his chances......though I don't think he will succeed.....happy to be proven wrong though....
Well, shouldn't that end it? Vijay like Dhawan deserves the chances.

Yes.....it should......that was what I was saying all along......I don't rate Mooli/Mridhul......but he deserves another shot......

Good on you for at least admitting that. Unlike tons of others, who are simply stuck in some delusions. Rating a player or not rating is something which changes constantly.

Wrong. He is not here because of IPL because he did zilch in whole IPL. He is here because what he did in test series against Australia but our selectors dont understand the difference between formats.

Really? Why is Dhawan as well? Why is suddenly rated so highly? It's because of one knock in his only test innings. Also, both Vijay and Dhawan did well in limited domestic matches this season and thus both equally deserve to be there. If you are questioning Vijay, then Dhawan should be questioned as well. It's a very simply point.

both Murali & Dhawan will play against SA today.. its part of the plan by BCCI to get some practice against SA bowlers, as we will hardly have any practicse games ahead of test series
