hassan_113 Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I hope they can do this. They've the batting to be competitive. I'm sure the bowling can hold up too. I would go for Rohit in tests as opener with Dhawan:- Rohit Dhawan Pujara Kohli Tendulkar Dhoni Jadeja Ashwin Bhuvi Ishant (who else is there- shami not ready yet) Yadav
MCcricket Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 I hope they can do this. They've the batting to be competitive. I'm sure the bowling can hold up too. I would go for Rohit in tests as opener with Dhawan:- Rohit Dhawan Pujara Kohli Tendulkar Dhoni Jadeja Ashwin Bhuvi Ishant (who else is there- shami not ready yet) Yadav Rohit is not a bad idea as opener, need only one spinner not two there, Ishant ideally would not pick him, Pathan for Ashwin or Jadeja, Shami for Ishant , what do you mean not ready lol:sniffle:
Nash Posted June 27, 2013 Posted June 27, 2013 we have good batting line up. In bowling department, spin is good but we are lacking one good fast bowler as I dont trust Ishant. Bhuvi might not be that effective in Test match either. Yadav is good but he lacking support from other end. We should try shami in place of Ishant or Bhuvi.
hassan_113 Posted June 28, 2013 Author Posted June 28, 2013 I like Shami but I don't think I would go for such an inexperienced test attack in SA. I wouldn't throw him into tests on debut. As much as I don't like Ishant, he has made some recent improvements and he needs to block one end up. I believe that three pacemen is enough for India. Pathan is past his best and at his pace, he will be cannon-fodder. Bhuvi, Ishant and Yadav with 2 spinners in Jaddu and Ashwin. Have Shami on the tour for sure and see how he does in the side games. Shami has to be given a chance to be playing in the first test in England next summer though: I wouldn't just thrust him into SA as India need one experienced paceman. Bhuvi is an intelligent bowler and will keep things tight and pick up wickets esp with the new ball.
FischerTal Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 this will be the lineup most probably Dhawan Vijay Pujara Tendulkar Kohli Karthik/Rohit/whoever does well in A tour Dhoni Ashwin Bhuvi Yadav Ishant/Shami/Kaul hopefully we can draw
Trichromatic Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Our bowlers need to fluke in an inning or so and restrict SA around 100 to have any chance of winning the test.
special K Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 BCCI should demand India get to bat for three innings. If that happen India might have a chance of posting 400 combined.

jf1gp_1 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 last time when we visited SA both rohit and vijay only played the ODIs; there were discussions that rohit should have been in the test side but both looked miserable infact yousuf pathan won us a game or two out of nowhere

FischerTal Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 i think gambhir is a must for this tour. his average is quite mind boggling in SA
cowboysfan Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 We have a chance to make some noise,we have got rid of all dead weight except sachin.if Sachin wants to play then he needs to play in the A tour,he hasnt played cricket in a while and his reflexes has already slowed down drastically. It would be utterely selfish if he becomes an albatross and keeps a young player out.
vvvslaxman Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 Our bowlers need to fluke in an inning or so and restrict SA around 100 to have any chance of winning the test. Sreesanth had two such outings.. Hope someone can repeat that..We have up and coming bowlers. They all look like 2nd choice, 3rd choice bowlers.
SLICKR392 Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 We need to dig deep into their batting order. Smith, Peterson, Amla, Kallis, Faf, AB & Duminy, not all are gonna fail, unless they choke .
vvvslaxman Posted June 28, 2013 Posted June 28, 2013 We need to dig deep into their batting order. Smith' date=' Peterson, Amla, Kallis, Faf, AB & Duminy, not all are gonna fail, unless the choke.[/quote'] India's best chance is trigger a first innings collapse and use that collapse to choke them in the 2nd innings.
