G_B_ Posted August 29, 2013 Author Posted August 29, 2013 even Imran Tahir had success there:cantstop: yes. Look at England v Aus. Even Steven Smith had good figures. Maybe there is a lesson for India. Whenever England tour play a leg spinner.
Lord Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 yes. Look at England v Aus. Even Steven Smith had good figures. Maybe there is a lesson for India. Whenever England tour play a leg spinner. I dont think their Test players are as bad.maybe only Bell. I remember Mishra having horrible couple of Tests in 2011 in England
saneindian Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 btw based on twitter Chawla is being paid £25' date='000 (25lakh by current exchange rates) to play for Somerset for 2 and a half months (Mid Aug, Sept and October) + expenses (like food lodging and travel). Not a bad deal for 2 months work in a different scenery.[/quote'] Compare that with the $900K per year IPL contract! Chawla probably makes more money than the entire Somerset team! :giggle: Credit to these guys though for still trying to come out of their comfort zones and explore county offers. COuld so easily avoid taking the trouble and be complacent. On offies in county cricket, Ojha did brilliantly for Surrey, took some 30 odd wickets in just 4-5 matches IIRC.
jusarrived Posted August 29, 2013 Posted August 29, 2013 I told you guys he will do well . Hes such a wasted talent .

He is eventually a leg spinner for right handers.
King Tendulkar Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Is becoming like Steve Smith. Rubbish leggie but developing in to spunky batsman
G_B_ Posted August 30, 2013 Author Posted August 30, 2013 and Somerset have won and beaten a good Middlesex team comprehensively..... Chawla 112 runs and 12 overs 31 for 3....... in the match. Should be the man of the match.
Bleed-Blue Posted August 30, 2013 Posted August 30, 2013 Never Expected him to do this well but Anyway :hatsoff: to him
King Tendulkar Posted August 31, 2013 Posted August 31, 2013 Never Expected him to do this well but Anyway :hatsoff: to him Why? Quality of county cricket is ok but nothing special. Good our players face foreign conditions etc and good for their progression. But county cricket is what it is, domestic cricket. Often the standard can be very very average.

He has Been struggling in Ranji Trophy matches And even in the IPl Recently...He has Been on The Decline Since His U19 Days
zaqw222222 Posted September 3, 2013 Posted September 3, 2013 Chawla has picked up 4 wickets for somerset today.
G_B_ Posted September 4, 2013 Author Posted September 4, 2013 picked up a 5er as of now.... he is really enjoying his time out there...
diga Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 picked a 5fer in the second innings too.. These poms cannot play legspin for their life:haha: Chanderpaul fighting a lone battle against Chawla
saneindian Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 A 10-fer likely yo end ina defeat :(( Well done PC, could have earned himself another shot in the A squad.
msb1991 Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 This is a fine effort by Chawla. He should play in England more often, they seem to be ideal conditions for both his bowling and batting.
G_B_ Posted September 6, 2013 Author Posted September 6, 2013 I am sure more counties will look to sign him post ipl (mid june onwards) if he continues with this performance. Hopefully Chawla's performances gives the counties enough indication that indian players can add to their teams in a positive manner. One of these days India needs to call Zim for a 2 test series and play lots of players like Rayadu Tiwary, Kaul, Shami, Kulkarni, Pandey, Punkaj etc so they can meet the county european visa eligibility criteria. As things stand the player in question needs to have played 1 test in the past 2 years. Make many of the younger India A lot eligible so that they can get county deal after the IPL. This is key for especially our bowlers.
vvvslaxman Posted September 6, 2013 Posted September 6, 2013 Guys like Ladla should find opportunities to play in county cricket.
rkt.india Posted September 7, 2013 Posted September 7, 2013 Guys like Ladla should find opportunities to play in county cricket. Does not qualify the eligibility criteria.
G_B_ Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 Chawla in now and playing well for somerset. Looks like he has decided to come and bat at 10 to protect himself against the pacers. Is smashing the spinners around. crucial innings from Chawla. Somerset are now 27 runs in front.
G_B_ Posted September 12, 2013 Author Posted September 12, 2013 crucial innings of 32 for his side batting at 9. Helped them get a good lead.
