Unfortunately, all this outrage distracts us from asking the most fundamental questions. Where are we as society ? Who are we as people ? Whom is this outrage against ? This happened in Mumbai. Something like this probably every 20 minutes somewhere in India. It is a sick country, but it is law and order issue.
As a country as a nation we have failed .Country who can't protect its own citizens is nothing in reality .

That's all you care about?
My point is women are not safe anywhere in India. But some people here say things like this city is safer than other one blah blah which is not true. And me caring or not caring about this won't change her life. She doesn't need anyone's sympathy she needs justice which none of us other than the law can provide.

Most people will see this incident as an act against a female and will link it to perception towards females in our country like female inferiority, male superiority, but we need to look at this beyond this but crime as a whole. We see a rape here and then a murder there which can be of anyone, male or female, but if it is a male we wont even think about it, but if it is a female, we will start talking about crime against females and gender biases will creep in while we will not even think about fundamental issues that are escalating crime. Why people are not able to think right? There are always two ways of crime, intentional which is planned before it happened and unintentional which happens in a zest, heat of the moment. The biggest thing to think about is growing criminal tendencies in humans and increasing behavioral intolerance. Why people are not able to differentiate between good and bad? ? Why they dont think that some thing they are doing can hurt others?

I do not think it is just a man and woman thing. There was a man with the girl who was beaten up too. Read my post above.

Yup that is what is disturbing. Some people just care about their Mumbai vs Delhi debate.

Scroll up and check who bought the Mumbai vs Delhi debate in this thread and ask which city/region they are from - you may get your answer.

Grim World of Mumbai Rape Accused maybe lack of empathy and taking what you want by force is how people live in Indian slums? It looks like the mumbai rapists lived in conditions similar to the ones in delhi.

sad... this keeps happening in India  Need some draconian laws for preventing it from happening again
Draconian laws will not prevent rapes from happening again. They'll just make sure they don't leave the victim alive to tell the story. You can't fight social frustration (corruption, rape, murder) rising from poverty, overpopulation, lack of education, flawed upbringing, imbalanced male to female ration (female foeticide) with draconian laws.

Mohamed Kasim Hafiz Sheikh alias Bangali, the main accused in the gangrape of a photojournalist, has said that he and his gang raped four women in the last one year at the same spot where Thursday's rape took place.

That is the sad reality of the rape victims. God knows how many don't even dare to report such savagery because of what happens to rape victims after reporting. The way the police deals with the victim...the hospital staff, the lawyers, the family ,the neighbors......that is what makes us a sick rotting country. Just read the comments on any of the reports and see how many people question why the victim was out there is the first place. The victim was out with a colleague at 6-6.30 pm.They make it look like that was the reason for the rape. You think these guys don't have the mentality of a rapists?
