Harsh Thakor
In actual fact we can never make an accurate analysis. We could choose between Jack Hobbs,Brian Lara George Headley and Sunil Gavaskar with Viv Richards.Hobbs and Headley were better than Bradman on wet tracks while Lara had the greatest penchant to amass mammoth scores. No batsmen stood upto great pace bowling as well as Sunil Gavaskar, not even Bradman. For pure genius Rohan Kanhai may have eclipsed Bradman.Where Viv stood out was his impact of intimidating the best pace bowlers.Ricky Ponting has the best stats in his peak after Bradman but did not play against as competitive attacks as Viv .Morally there is a strong case for Hobbs who average over 65 in his peak but still did no emulate Viv Richard's flair.Viv was more than a Black Bradman. Austin 3:!6
^ Harsh can you disclose more about yourself? I mean you got a very good cricket knowledge, specially of the past generation. Are you an ex cricketer or something? Please let ICF'ers know more about you. Thanks. Link to comment
vvvslaxman
If we are going to compare two players consistently. you have 1000s of players and you will have to come up with 1000s of comparisons. So please create a thread in such a way that you can discuss about everyone in that thread. For instance instead of comparing between Imran and Botham just open a thread titled 'Allrounders' and go to town. Also try to be as brief as possible if you really want an engaging discussion. The Outsider
Also try to be as brief as possible if you really want an engaging discussion. I feel it's not brevity, but the horrible typesetting, lack of paragraphs and formatting which is the problem. Link to comment

Guest
Please compare Gavaskar to Boycott. Opener has to face new ball which swings and it is difficult. have you seen Gavaskar hitting and hooking Malcom marshall when he was fast His 235 against England in 1981 is lovely to watch. Greg Chapell is the only batsman who scored century in first and last last. He failed in two series one against england and one against WI with average 25 and 45 respectively if i am correct. Viv was not good against Pakistan in WI 1977 and against Australia in 1976 average 28 and 35 respectively. Both are good in their own way as they have different style both averaging above 52 .Viv is agressive , match winner but failed utterly against his own bowlers in WI county matches . Chappell is stlylish , classic and straight , lovely to watch but he is very successful in austrialian shefield matches against Thomson, Lillee, Gilmour and walker. Gavaskar and Doug walters are the most sucessful and consistant against WI. Hence every one is great in their own way. Link to comment
Rightarmfast
Viv was comfortably 3rd. Sachin, Don Bradman and then Viv. In some time, or maybe even now, I think Viv would be 4th. Behind Kohli. kira 1 Link to comment

Khota
Never saw Bradman but did see Vivian. The bat speeds he could generate to hit boundaries were unsurpassed. Absolute beast. Link to comment
Late Cut
Viv was just a biffer; highly overrated. That WI team's success was driven by Haynes & Greenidge at the top, and Lloyd further down. Without probably one of the best opening partnerships ever, Richards would have struggled- and in fact did whenever the openers didn't set up a strong base. OP- Punctuation, sentence, and paragraph structure is your friend. Edited March 11, 2018 by Late Cut Rightarmfast and Jimmy Cliff 1 1 Link to comment

Viv Richards dominated bowlers minds like no batsman I have seen . He reduced good bowlers to quivering wrecks. Virat Kohli has the ability to dominate bowling but not the bowlers minds . velu 1 Link to comment
