Only got out to a silly shot as has been the problem with him, not because of a great delivery. His wicket was the turning point. I he had not played that silly shot, even that match could have been won. He looked very assured against most bowlers.

Whenever ball was pitched up, he was like.a stuck pig who didn't move his front foot at all. He tries to be like Dravid in his front foot defence but utterly fails. In ODIs, he may get away with this, but any decent test bowler will find out this weakness in an instant.

He had his issue in 2012 and he could not score runs last year, but has worked on it that is the reason he is averaging 50 this year and has played against some good bowlers. There is not a single cricketer who does not some weakness. But important is how one makeup for that and do well even with that weakness. VVS Laxman rarely had any great front foot movement, always stuck in the crease, and played from crease, but he knew his stuff and limitations and did well. Rohit's approach right now is really good and he should continue to build on that.

In ODIs, he may get away with this, but any decent test bowler will find out this weakness in an instant.[/quote'] Rohit is the most technically sound batsman in the team,He has minimal trigger movements ,so he is not front foot even before the bowler bowls which allows him to play quicks bowlers and bouncers.Its the hardest thing in cricket to do if u have played some level of cricket ,sachin does it thats why he has gotten bowled more often as if their is error in picking length or lapse in concentration like rohit u are gone.Rohit does need to get more forward when he comes in as he bends his knee and plays lovely drives when he settles down.

Unless he solves that problem, the only place he will score outside of India in tests is in Australia. He's secured his spot in ODIs for 2015 WC but the way some people here believe success on a flat ODI pitch=test spot is just mind-boggling

He was MOS in WI 2010 and that too on difficult pitches when most other batsmen were failing. He plays with straight bat that is his quality and will give him a lot of success in every format. Regarding the weakness, if VVS could be successful why not he. VVS had no really front foot movement. All hand-eye co-ordination. In test cricket, you can leave deliveries outside off stump and do not need to score on them. PS: Regarding test cricket overseas, there is not a single proven young batsman in this team right now, so you cannot single out Rohit alone.
