Former India pace bowler Manoj Prabhakar said that he will make Ishant Sharma a champion bowler if he gets a chance to work with the gangly bowler for a month. Ishant was hit for 30 runs in the 48th over by James Faulkner in the third One-Day International (ODI) at Mohali. “Ishant has to bowl for long hours in the nets. I really do not know how a yorker can be bowled with a crossed seam. It cannot land on the target. But most importantly, his basic problem is that his shoulder drops down. As a result, he looses his momentum and position,†Prabhakar told MiD DAY. Prabhakar said Ishant faced similar problems in 2007 but he did rectify his issues. The subsequent tour of Australia in 2007-08 say Ishant trouble Ricky Ponting on a consistent basis. Prabhakar wondered how Ishant’s problem of dropping his left shoulder early was undetected by Wasim Akram and Waqar Younis. Wasim and Waqar have been Ishant’s bowling coaches in the Indian Premier League (IPL) for Kolkata Knight Riders and Sunrisers Hyderabad respectively. Prabhakar accused that Ishant was not adviced to take his words by a former Indian bowling coach. Surprisingly Prabhakar’s last game for India was when he was hammered for 47 off four overs in a group World Cup 1996 game against Sri Lanka in Delhi. “Ishant has to work hard on his bowling. His running is not a problem. There are some technical issues, but if he comes to me, I will help him become a champion bowler again in a month. If not, I will never talk about cricket again,†said Prabhakar.

Is it just me or is Prabhakar's Test bowling average same as Ishant's? 37 :haha: ... Not to mention, the pitches in the past helped the bowlers more often than they do nowadays. Helping Ishant ... my ass look at this. Tendulkar smashes 137 against the lankans but this champion bowler gets smashed around by Kaluwitharana and India loses. Then people blame Sachin for not winning enough matches http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/65179.html Sachin: 137 (137) - 8 fours and 5 sixes :hail::hail::hail::hail::hail:

U do not know he had a great seam position which helped him swing the ball big and has been bowling coach for many years now.He says he worked with ishant before australian tour and if tis true then why not now.Ishant has to get his in swinger back and indian coaches will anyways be better than joe dawes.

Not every great player becomes a good coach. Not every good coach was a great player. He was average, but he did not have the gifted ability that Ishant has, the pace and height. Ishant are lacking in technical aspects where Prabhakar was good.

Ishant as a player only got his bowling right 15 % time in his career, that is very poor, for me unless he is let go for a year or more and rediscover his game then only needs to be looked ay
