How about the India v/s Aus game during the 1987 World Cup. We had the game in the pocket but a brain freeze and some awesome bowling by Craig McDermott meant we lost it by 1 run. It was at Chepauk I think. Same tournament, this time Zimbabwe almost won against NZ. I think they fell short by 2 or 3 runs. And my favorite player ever from Zimbabwe, Dave Houghton, scored 140+ in that game. I think this was played at Hyderabad. Again Zimbabwe, this time against Sri Lanka during the 1992 World Cup. Both teams scored over 300 runs which in those days was like 400+ of today

Also India were doing good to chase down against Pakistan during that Saeed Anwar highest score game where he hit 194. We fell short. It was a good fight considering not many teams used to make 290ish batting 2nd, but if we see it now, it was kind of a messed up chase. There are plenty of instanes if we really start looking at that scenario.

Target : 301 and NZ were 97/5 at 24.2 overs but they didnt stop there and almost did it in the end. Lost by just 2 runs.
