it would have been very embarassing to say that the most stylish batsman in the indian lineup is ashwin if Rohit wasn't in the team but seriously what a stylish player ashwin more genuine test allrounder than jadeja jadeja is a better odi allrounder another similarity b/w lachu and ashwin is that when they run, its like they are running on sand

He looked tremendously confident and was playing his shots. He was always attacking. His innings were a treat. Much better than ..... Dhoni atm :--D

The message to Ash should be simple (A) concentrate on your fitness. Probably target something like a BMI of 22. You dont have to be 100% athletic. But atleast dont be fat. (B) Concentrate on your bowling first and foremost. That is your bread and butter © Maybe if spare time aim to bat 5-6 overs a day. What worries me a bit about Fletcher is that he has the Ashley Giles syndrome. Giles from previous accounts was told by Fletcher to be a batsman who bowls spin from a spinner who could bat a bit. Thats why it took so long for Swann to make his debut. India also have the example of Irfan Pathan. Promoting him to 3 wrecked his career. Judge Ashwin as a bowler and whatever happens with the bat is a bonus.

lol, Ashwin is not fat but he just has belly and tyres. His wife must be adding ghee and dry fruits in everything for more "action" :giggle: I think he shld follow some diet and jog a little more. Belly will go away in no time.

Doesn't every international player run a lot as part of theit warmups before every game  Clearly it is the diet

looking at the pictures, its strange how people used to call him fatwin i really want to see him end up with something like 100 tests - 450ish wickets - around 5000 runs with atleast 10 centuries i hope my expectations are reasonable...

better batsman than Kapil?thats a tall claim' date='too early to say imo[/quote'] Kapil had too much talent as a batsman... but never really focused i think even imran said that if kapil put a little more heart into batting, he would have been on a different level... i like ashwin's confidence. his approach to the game was proper like a batman does... took his time, no slogging... proper cricketing shots...

Yes kaps batting record could have been better, but he is a MARVELLOUS batsman, so pls stop comparing decent ashwin with marvellous kaps! Kaps (iff) when in the zone is like a Viv Richards spr-trib1.jpg

Ravichandran Ashwin becomes No1 ranked Test all rounder India cricketer Ravichandran Ashwin has achieved the No.1 position in the ICC Test all-rounder rankings after a stellar performance in the Kolkata match against the West Indies which India won by an innings and 51 runs. Ashwin scored 124, his second century, and recorded match figures of 5-98 from 40 overs with 11 maidens. With his performance, he not only improved his batting and bowling rankings but also leapfrogged Shakib Al Hasan and Jacques Kallis into the top spot in the all-rounders' list. Ashwin has earned 81 points and leads Shakib by 43. In the Test batsmen rankings, Ashwin has moved up 18 places to 45th position while in the bowlers rankings, the 27-year-old off-spinner has gained two places and is now sitting in sixth. Middle-order batsman Rohit Sharma and fast bowler Mohammed Shami, who made their debuts in the same Test, have made impressive entries into the rankings. Sharma, who became the 14th India batsman to score a century on debut, has broken into the rankings in the 63rd spot while Shami's match figures of 9-118 -- the most by an India fast bowler on debut -- has helped him enter in 53rd place in the bowlers rankings. Pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar also improved on his ranking. His two wickets have helped him move into 87th place (up by 13). The batting chart continues to be headed by AB de Villiers of South Africa while his teammate Dale Steyn is the No.1 ranked bowler. The rankings will next be updated at the end of the Mumbai Test which starts Nov 14.
