This is a ridiculous achievement by Kohli... Congrats to him! 5k runs in just 114 international odi innings is insane. Having seen Kohli's entire career to date I now realize what a legend batsman Viv Richards was during his era where playing ODI cricket was much tougher. :hatsoff: to both

All teams would love to have a killer chaser like him. You can always find guys who can set it up in the first innings.

So all the pitchers must have been bowler friendly when India were put into bat. And Kohli averages that much because of flat pitches, substandard bowlers, substandard umpires, substandard fielders, and substandard crowds oh and dew. He will always struggle with a vociferous crowd like Mumbai. Next series in England should be fun.

Kohli is one of the clutchest Indian players when it comes to chases. A lot of teams wish they had him in ODI's :hatsoff:. He has that hunger to score runs.

Talking abt Viv, I am still thinking how this was possible... S/R in 1970s and 1980s even in ODIs must have been quite low?? And no batting powerplay and free-hits and 4 fielders in deep only restrictions. How many bowling powerplays in 1970s/80s? Were there 10? (of which Greenidge and Haynes took most?) Tremendous that this guy scored 5000 in so few innings! Stark diff between Viv and rest of ODI players of that era. Who was second fastest 5000 in the 70s/80s timeframe?? 13523.jpg

It further magnifies just how frighteningly good Viv Richards was. :hatsoff:
