Defensive mindset has to go... I hate this notion of opening the bowling by trundlers as they'll not bowl better later. What sort of defensive captain are you when you always think of giving the best of the conditions to your pet bowlers and treat a genuine strike bowler in step motherly way? Not only that, this tendency of buying some more time, getting the quota of pet bowlers finish safely, the moment a wicket is taken by your strike bowler, by removing your strike bowler just after he's taken a wicket! This T20 style bowling rotation, not allowing a full quota of the strike bowler, not allowing him any time to settle down, will alway bring disaster on away tours... Why include those bowlers whom you've to protect through out the innings. Why? You've to be a mofo to be so much defensive...and in the process never allow a bowler settle down jus because he's not among your close group of pet players...

First thing first - Drop Ashwin from ODI side please. He is going through a horrible time and I dare say I see no sign of improvement. His performance gone downhill since his marriage. Try Ojha instead.

Dhoni's thinking is questionable at best for home series but there our batsmen make up for our poor bowling but we have to take wickets with the 2 new balls(thats how we won the champions trophy).our best bowlers have to bowl with the new ball and i really dont like 2 spinners on green pitches.I would go with Bhuvi,Shami,Ishant and Umesh with Jaddu as the main spinner(unless the pitch is dry) and drop Ashwin all together.

lost 3-0 in england lost 3-1 to aus in cb series last year lost 2-1 to pak lost to bdesh and knocked out of asia cup knocked out in the 1st round of CT in 2009 all under dhoni as well.. thing is with the team we've got right now especially being #1 ,this type of performance is unacceptable and after the 8-0 drubbing more people will began to question the team's ability abroad without taking cognisance of those wonderful feats u've mentioned

Many factors: 1. team just turned up 3 days ago- this was their warm up match- poor BBCI management, look how well we did in CT2013 with warm up matches 2. we matched south Africa runs wise up until 39th over- its just we lost loads of wickets- Raina running himself and Rohit didn't help matters. If Rohit stayed in- he could have accelerated in the end. Also India's poor death bowling inflated the target unnecessarily by 50 runs 3. Shikhar Dhawan- playing unnecessary pull shot off the first morn morel ball- come on man- at least take a look and suss out the bowling- he got suckered into an ego match with ABDV comments 4. playing only 3 pacers/leaving out our quickest bowler- Yadav could have injured ppl on this track and instead they play suresh raina equivalent of bowling…Mr Mohit Sharma 5. Yuvi- no pun intended but we have to kick him out now- this can't go on- Rahane in his place please main reason we lost is we didn't have confidence and we panicked we should be heartened by batting of Kohli, Dhoni, Ashwin

Nice balanced summary. there are some mistakes on our side. Also there are some external factors like poor scheduling was also a reason. I back our batsmen to bounce back sooner than later.
