fineleg Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 But to keep all the long stories short - like Ticz starts the threads abt "first hour/first session" - same thing - every single day the FIRST HOUR is crucial. Right now, Indian team needs to tackle the first hour new ball. Do that well, and then hopefully things will become more free flowing after that is done.
coffee_rules Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Session map so far: D1: India, even, India D2: SA, India, even D3: India, India, India We are leading 6-1 with 2 evens.. That is really dominating. I hope they continue and we can win this test.

That is really dominating. I hope they continue and we can win this test. You know what. Regardless of what happens in this test from here on, we will be going in the 2nd test with lot of confidence in our batting. Because 3 of the future stalwarts Pujara, Rahane and Kohli have already scored some runs and others are bound to click once atleast. With No Morkel, South Africa will probably bring in Ryan Mclare, who's pretty good, but not as good as Morkel. I have a great feeling about this series ending. We just have to keep bowling decent or more.
vijay50 Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 SA can still win or draw this match Amlla, Kallis ,Smith and ABDV likes our gentle pace bowlers. They have made double centuries against India before and Don't expect them to fail again. SA can score 350 to draw this match. Also rain is looming on 5th day. :winky::winky:
putrevus Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 They have one of the most potent batting lineups with lot of great players who are also very good in grinding out draws. I don't think it is going to be easy to get those other ten wickets unless we get some magic from Zak and co with Ashwin also chipping in.
satishg Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 This is not a flat pitch, India played exceedingly well and Morkel's absence helped us a lot as well. So unless there is rain there is no way SA can save this game. Lets just hope that rain stays away and our bowlers get a good number of overs to bowl them out.

That is what makes this knock special. We got lot of runs on spinners compared to Steyn and co. Even when Steyn and Philander gave away boundary or few runs in any over, atleast 2 deliveries in that over were wicket taking deliveries which would beat our batsmen sometimes. It's really hard to bat in South Africa for that long on any day. Staying and spending time there is not easy and hence the BIG NOISE is being made after this p'ship, deservingly. As brits would say, LADS PLAYED WELL.
satishg Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Unfortunately' date=' commentators said Day 5 rain quite likely.[/quote'] Yes i saw the forecast as well and it says 30% chance of rain. We need to declare an hr before tea and try to get 4-5 wickets tomorrow. Then the last day 5 wickets is definitely possible even if it is rain affected.

Even the SA commies were going gaga over that so this has been an outstanding performance from our batsmen. We just need to be patient when we bowl on this wicket and take all the catches that comes our way thats the only part i am worried about. But overall amazing performance by this young team and i really hope weather doesnt play spoil sport as we deserve to win this game for the way we have played.

coffee_rules Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Fafda played out a whole day with ABDV and saved a match in Adelaide. http://www.espncricinfo.com/australia-v-south-africa-2012/engine/match/573008.html In I1: Imran Tahir 23 0 180 0 7.82 :woot:
coffee_rules Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Ummmm... wrong for day 2.. D2: SA, SA, India True I thought SA lost couple of top order wickets before tea. SA were 118/1 at tea and 213/6 at the end!
maniac Posted December 20, 2013 Posted December 20, 2013 Wish we had a world class spinner among our ranks...Don't see Ashwin doing a lot here....If we had a Kumble here...this game was already in the bag

Legend! And even when batting he will offer resistance and fight. Qn is for Durban - do we play Ashwin or bring Umesh Yadav as four seamers attack?
