In yet another bid to pacify the minority votebank, Akhilesh Yadav's government has sought advice from the Muzaffarnagar administration over the withdrawal of cases against Muslim leaders booked for instigating communal riots in the district last September. The special secretary of the state government Ranganath Pandey, in a letter dated December 20, 2013, sought information from the district magistrate (judicial section - 5) on several points. The letter, which was leaked in the media on January 4, had the subject 'Crime no. 1114/2013, Section 188/153A, 353, 341 IPC District Muzaffarnagar State vs Kadir Rana etc regarding withdrawal of charges' article-2534207-1A7004CF00000578-730_468x327.jpg
