Buddy wasn't trying to hassle you' date=' I haven't seen raydu bat much and fallen way to many times believing poster who just hype some players. At the end of the day all we care is a win.[/quote'] Who have I hyped here exactly ? One bowler I backed from first times saw was shami and other is pandey ..rest I have always maintained that have long way to go and improve And with batting any one is better than Raina away from home ..best option is to open with pu jars and push rohit down and ask him to hit in these conditions but he has failed there too before so I don't know Rayadu deserves a go as he has grabbed his chance until now Don't expect miracles every one weds few games to get going but he can be decent in Odis in long run that I am certain of

We shouldn't be celebrating an injury' date=' come on![/quote'] I just went overboard because it frustrates me when he bats like a noob every single time while facing short pitched bowling. But I think I should not have behaved like that. :hmmm:

raina is not a bad option on these flat nzl pitches and short boundaries but he'll be a complete disaster in aus with long boundaries and bouncy pitches..he was dancing like a dounce even in the last match, looks unassured

You dont get to 200 odis in this Indian batting line-up without being really good. Raina is an exceptional ODI bat, who just happens to be going through what is probably the first extended lean patch of his career. It is not his fault if people misinterpret that for a unsustainable technical weakness in his batting. Every time I see an opinion about how Raina's perceived weakness against is affecting his batting, I ask myself 'Oh my God, is this breaking news for 2008?!' Fact of the matter is, Raina has always been suspect against short-pitched and yet has managed to have to a impactful ODI career for the last 8+ years. It can be that he is now all of a sudden a total liability for us. There is such a thing called a longer rope for proven performers. If you are a newcomer to the side who failed in 4-5 consecutive games, then your place is under threat. If you are a proven performer with a 200 ODI track record, you should be given a longer timeframe to get your mojo back. That is just how team sports work.

hes been failing since CT last year, that is long enough rope. And hes only provedto be a dud in overseas conditions.I can't remember a single match won by him outside Asia.his average drops from 39 to 28 outside Asia.these failures outside Asia aren't recent phenomenon

Raina is an atrocious player the moment he steps out of sub continent to call him a batsman is a joke. There is a reason why he has scored just 3 fifties outside subcontinent one of them is against Zim. Like Ishant Sharma in bowling he has also not shown any sign of improvement at all , he is energetic and all that but he is the team for his batting and if he cannot bat then he needs to go.

Surely we are not playing the numbers game, are we? I think it has been quite well established that, unless you a genius, out-of-the-world LOI batsmen like MSD or Bevan, it is incredibly unreasonable to judge a lower middle order batsmen just by sheer numbers. These guys come into bat in exceptionally tough circumstances. They should be measured by the impact they have on the game and not by the absolutely volume of runs they scored. Take for example the 2nd ODI. Raina scored 35 off 22 balls. That is not bad at all, if you ask me. Obviously, as a veteran, he should have stayed at the crease for longer and finished the game for us, but this conversation about Raina would not even be happening if MSD/Kohli successfully completed the case. Fact of the matter is this – The lower middle in ODIs is probably the hardest batting job in the world, apart from maybe opening in tests. It is a thankless job where the guys are almost always under added-pressure situations to deliver. And because the fans’ attention is so riveted during the closing stages of the game, any failure will have a higher profile too. We have to give Raina a chance to go thru a lean patch, he absolutely deserves it!

Have u forgotten project Raina? Please stop making these excuses for this guy who has never done anything of note out side of subcontinent or against quick bowler bowling short Infact this has been case even before World Cup but in World Cup he was pushed to number 7 so it did not matter but when he bats in top 4 it's a issue Btw check average of most other teams at number 5 u will be surprised how easy it's to score runs and that situations like 35 of 22 are myth

Okay, forget numbers, can you list me 3 games that he's won (finished) for us outside Asia. He's a gem to have in Asian conditions, but outside hes a liability.Even when in form,he struggles to cope with the conditions and win us games.Denying that is just ignorant

I am not following what you are saying. Raina is a lower middle order bat (no.6 and below). He does not normally play at no.4

What are u talking about? He has batted at number 4 in India and just recently lowest he played was number 5....dont know about last game but ur totally off about his playing position Dhoni said he is grooming raina for number 4 position and it was called project raina... And If u have seen him bat recently which I doubt cos ur defending him u will know how clueless this guy has looked against not just pace bowling but also spin Sign of short ball and this guy starts struggling, and start premeditation pull shot and gets out... Just look at dismissals against Johnson at number 4 ;)

Raina is Dhoni's bum-chum but if we replace him with someone like Rayudu, India's lower middle order becomes even more useless. Imagine the lower middle order of Rahane, Rayudu, Dhoni, and that hack Jadeja. These guys would struggle to score 120 in last 20 overs. That dunce Dhoni needs to realize you don't throw away the toss advantage by fielding first on batting beauties. Chances are he will probably start losing coin toss in must-win games and India will be fielding again and chasing 325+ targets again. For next couple of games, I will go with this batting order: Rahane Dhawan Kohli Dhoni Rohit - As much as it pains me to keep this habitual under-performer in ODI team Raina Sir Hack or Binny Followed by mightly long tail.

In any case even if I did it does not matter u can choose to ignore my posts but I have been backing Rayadu of Indian team for over year now and I have tried to see his batting every time it was aired on TV His problem is conversion of starts in longer format otherwise can be decent limited over batsman But not sure about his recent form so maybe we need to give jadhav chance in Asia cup
I can vouch, Rayudu is quality. On the zim tour, he provided stability, made some good runs, finished his debut with 60ish not out. The guy can play and would be perfect for run chases. Just back him! If anything, rohit should go and rahane could open with rayudu at 4 if you desperately want raina.

People can say whatever the crap they want, but he is still ahead of cricketers like Rohit Sharma, Unproven and needs to be given more chance Ajinkya Rahane, the all rounder Ravinder and Ashwin, The Mountain Ishant, the not so fully cemented Dhawan. Raina still is giong to be in my ODI team everytime he is fit.
