Actually Vinay Kumar is not too bad on indian tracks. Against England during ODIs in 2011- he regularly got wickets. Also ODIs is a different ball game to first class test cricket. Vinay only played one game in tests

Chinnaswamy is helpful to seamers? Anyways, the issue here is this. We keep harping about how India has flat/spin wickets and how this has stifled the development of pacers here. And we layout a greenish wicket here and Vinay has bowled really well (he is bowling to the best batsmen on the domestic circuit) and now that is dismissed as an aberation on helpful wickets.
were you on a deserted island all this while? this has been a long time issue http://www.espncricinfo.com/blogs/content/story/617794.html ". Secondly - the tracks need to be doctored a lot to give them assistance which leads to inflated figures. Hence domestic tournaments may well be presenting a warped picture of a fast bowler's performance and hence cannot suffice for an appropriate yardstick to go by while picking one. " gagandeep-20.84 jp yadav-23 joginder-21.47 and over 50+ matches is this some kind of a bloody joke?

otoh' date=' If they can't get past VK, what chance will they have against Mitchell?[/quote'] Would be more careful and determined against MJ. :agree: Jackass like Vinay is usually underestimated by the batsmen and they play rash shots.

If what is said here is true, then India should be producing lot of batsmen who can play well overseas, and this means we must have phenomenal bench strength when we tour. Which isn't quite true.

Look at Australia, they are also producing so many seam friendly grassy lawns in FC in recent years, but still they are not producing good batsmen.

A batsman like Jadeja can average 50 and rack up three triple centuries in India. During the 2012/13 domestic season, nearly thirty Indian batsmen averaged 60 (and probably 60+ batsmen have 50+ avergaes) and this does not seem to suggest that the bowling job is an easy one for pacers in India.

Then why is Vinay's sub 25 avg slighted? Surely not easy on predominantly batting friendly tracks.

Seam bowling dominates indian domestic, only one spinner in top 5. Our pitches are not pace friendly but seam friendly even if you bowl at 115-120, if you can hit the seam in right areas, you will get a lot of help. Seam bowlers bowl most of the overs and it is not difficult to average 25 when you bowl so many overs and can easily end up 150/5 On pattas and 60/5 on seaming tracks. also depends on the venue you are playing at. Chinnaswamy, Dharmshala, Roshanara, Lahli, Meerut, gaziabad, Lucknow, eden, Jaipur, Indore sometimes provide lot of help to seamers in winters. Chennai, Rajkot, Pune, Ahmedabad are traditionally big scoring ground. Wankhede also swivels between batting friendly to pace friendly in a season. Wankhede is one which provides real bounce and pace when it is prepared that way.

That is not to say Binny is great. That is just to say Pitch offered so much that even Binny looked good. No surprise VK got some purchase out of it and exploited it. :cantstop:
That means Pankaj, Dinda, Bhajji, Mishra were pathetic not to get Karnataka out cheaply.

The most cringe worthy thing on highlights is not Vinay kumar's bowling but the way all ROI batmen were plonking their front foot and jabbing at ball away from their bodies. these are the next generation batsmen , India need to have these kind of pitches for every domestic match so batsmen can develop some kind of technique. If these guys are sitting ducks against Vinay kumars and binnys what chance they have against better bowlers on helpful pitches.

i am sorry but all the roi batsmen except maybe DK have terrible techinque and look like FTBs.I am more surpirsed by the punjabi batsmen who i would have thought would be used to playing on this kind of pitch.bcci needs to foce all grounds to prepare faster and greener pitches or these guys can never learn.

India is producing next gen full of Devang Gandhis!!! So much for Mandeep Singh and Unmukt Chand (yes he didnt play this game) and ... But they can all play IPL which is what has 7 threads on ICF front page now
