I was hoping for Manoj Tiwary to cement his place. Last 3 scores of Tiwar 104*, 21, 65 . Wonder why he was never considered again at all. Is he still injured? Brilliant fielder like Rahane.

We made that mistake by recalling Dravid in England. Good batsmen in testing conditions sure. But how far that is going to help a team? Hardly.
For the time being, we can afford just one of them in the side, especially in the subcontinent. If they manage to evolve as ODI strokeplayers in the future then that is different. Dhawan Pujara/ Rahane Kohli Rohit can be good top 4 in all conditions. Good mix of technique and strokeplay. The next 3 batters need to be big hitting finishers. Preferably Raina/Yuvraj Dhoni Sir

People are over estimating Binny...he is a complete hack.
I would rather see him getting a few opportunities in Asia Cup because if he does well, he could give us the balance we need. He is a good hitter down the order and can also bowl medium pace to complement other 3 seamers. You cant write off anybody without giving 1 or 2 chances. If he fails, fair enough.

big hitting finishers didnt do anything even in home series against Aus.
That is because we played Yuvi or Raina in the top 4. You cannot have an ODI specialist batting in the top 4 of an ODI with a high quality pacer operating. The only time it has worked is when such a player has been used as a pinch hitter. We missed Pujara in the top 4 in the last 3 ODI series. In the Aussie ODI series, we had ODI specialists from 4 to 7. Too many such players against Johnson. Yuvi and Raina cannot play together if Dhoni and Sir are playing too.

Kohli has a good record at no.4 too' date='Pujara/Rahane at no 5 is not going to work[/quote'] But Kohli is our best batsman by a country mile. He has to come in as early as possible except opening. If Pujara and Rohit gets stuck at low scoring rate for 30 overs then Kohli will be struggling .

Pujara will have to commit tactical harakiri after laying a foundation like Gauti used to do for India and Badri for CSK.I have hope that he can score at a 80+ strike rate from what i have seen in the challenger trophy. Its not ideal but we saw what happened in NZ when Rahane/Rayudu were in the middle order.

The new rules and this tourney being played in the SC makes the middle order weaker. Had the rules not changed, we could have had some respite with this attack as we wouldn't be chasing 280-300 every game.
