Why, and what made you idolize/admire your favourite cricketer?

Loads of talent. ....kidding The first time I saw a complete srt innings was against s.a when they toured india after they came back to world cricket. ....Donald destroyed the indian top order and srt had to step in and play a real gem against the rampaging donald.....this followed with some epic stuff in b&h series, aussie tests (only saw the late night highlight) and of course m.o.m against pak 92 wc and I was on the bandwagon

Dhoni - From the modest background he belongs to reach to the level he did and yet so modest is freaking amazing. He was a ticket collector in Kharagpur station till 2003, used to live in 1 room railway quarter and even took a bank loan of 20 thousand rupees to buy a bike. Its easy to get into a national side from Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Bangalore etc. But from small places like Jharkhand its impossible to get into Indian team due to politics. Absolute legend and top respect for that guy.

+1 :hatsoff: Would like to add my experience too. MSD - First time i heard about him in that A team tri series with Pakistan A and Kenya. Some commentator said he plays for Bihar. That was the first time i heard a player from my state is playing on an almost national level. After some time he was selected in national team Since then i started following him and after the explosive 145, 183 and those Partnerships with Yuvi already made him one of my fav cricketers. But the moment when i became a die hard MSD fan was T20 WC 2007. I had never seen a captain this calm and composed. And since then he has continued to impress me. I am still amazed at the coolness MSD shows sometimes. I even try to include it in my life as much as possible. 2nd Cricketer next to MSD will be Bhuvi. Bhuvi: My most fav Indian bowler ever. I love his "seedha Bachcha" attitude unlike Other fast bowlers. So quietly does his job consistently. And i am very happy when he performs well.

2 cricketers - for vastly different reasons. 1. Pravin Amre: I have a thing for underdogs. I will pull for them any day over the super-talented players. Limited gifts. Little talent. Nothing seems to come easy. Worked hard for every gain. Plodder with no flair. I totally identify with him. In many ways, I am the Pravin Amre at my workplace. 2. Krish Srikkanth: Gifted with excellent hand-eye coordination. Fearless. Flamboyant. Impulsive. Everything that I am not, but sometimes wish I was. The main reason I became his fan was that he was the first true Indian aggressor in the top order, made a major contribution in the WC83 final, and contributed throughout the B&H85 series. I enjoy/ed watching many cricketers - Kapil Dev, Gavaskar, Tendulkar, Dravid, VVSL, Dhoni, Kohli, Yuvraj, Sehwag etc. But I would pull for Amre and Srikkanth to succeed over all of these others in a match situation.

gonna post about batsmen right now cause my list of fav bowlers is too long tendulkar- 136 at chennai :hatsoff: and 100 at mcg made me respect him more ganguly- he's the comeback man!! in an odi got hit by actor,retired hurt (me and my cousin brother were fuming at that time though we were just 7-8 year old kids),cmes back scores a gritty 50 :clap: .then loved his 177 against nzl and that 141 at adelaide against pak. dravid- the guy was a lone warrior from 2001-05 and a sacrificer.best batsman in 99 wc :adore: was enough to make him a hero figure.still remember i got up early in the morning to watch the 1st test of india's tour of nzl 2002 only to see india tottering at 115/6,the 1st thing that came to my mind was of all the batsmen,i am sure Mr dependable dravid must be batting and yeah he was on 60 odd laxman- 281,enuff said!! viru- just loved to watch him bat.the greatest entertainer in test cricket!! 195 in mcg,180 in windies,201 galle,101 in nottingham,105 in saf all were masterclass damien martyn- class apart,the way he handled spinners in the chennai match was amazing bc lara- double ton in aus(2005 was it?) ,190 odd in pak,400 were some of his innigs i thoroughly enjoyed.
