I do believe Tendulkar was already playing for India aged 16..... Lots of catching up to do by young Doran.
match SRT lol.400+ odis & 200 tests 24 years,100 centuries . Pehle bacche ko spin khelna to sikhoa. Warna wo Hughes aur khawja kind tarah kahtakali karega. He is not even started yet & comparing him to SRT

he'd do well to match Ponting. SRT will be extremely tough to match for an aussie. Primarly because from my years watching the sport: a) Aussies give their 'young batsmen' a chance usually around 21-22 at best, so it ends up being a 15-16 year career on average. That puts him basically at pace to score a thousand runs every year of his test career to match SRT ( SRT cannot and will not be matched- ever- in ODIs. Atleast not for runs. Not even Kohli will touch that number). So its extremely hard. b) Almost all Aussie 'good/great batsmen' I've seen, tend to be less competent playing spin at the beginning of their careers than great Indian batsmen are at playing pace overseas. Say what you will but Ponting, Steve Waugh, Clarke, Mark Waugh, Border- they all had their struggles against spin in the subcontinent, much more so than Tendulkars,Dravids or Gavaskars have struggled against pace earl in their career. This, IMO will easily shave off a few points of his career average and will make it tough to match Tendulkar: unless he is the rare Aussie who has twinkle-toes against spin from an early age (even Clarke was crap in India during his first tours), he will struggle to make up for those low runs he makes early on in the subcontinent. The clock is ticking. I basically don't give any batsman a chance to play beyond 38 ( very few in the last 30 years have actually touched 40 and played test cricket), which means he's got 20 years to make 16000 test runs. Thats already a freakish 800 runs/year average he needs to score to top Tendulkar ( and at more than 2.5 centuries/year).

Yes. And he has to score 1000 runs every year for 12 years to catch up...that'd make him 37. Almost impossible for kohli i'd say Sent from my GT-S5830D using Tapatalk 2

Clarke's debut tour to India was great. Had a debut 100 but he has not been great on subsequent tours.

Time is not a problem for Kohli. SRT played till 39 while Kohli is far fitter than SRT ever was. It is all about form for Kohli, otherwise he has all the time in his hands. He can still play for 14-15 years.

Kohli might score more 100's in ODI's though, going by the standards of bowling and pitches.

His first major injury was the back injury after which his fitness got suspect. Hopefully kohli doesn't pick up any such injuries.

I agree regarding Sachin being the fitter cricketer. Virat is more athletic though.

SRT was fit for those days in comparison to players in those days, not today. He was always chubby. In 90s, he was not the even the fittest Indian player that goes to Azhar and Jadeja.

Me as well as lot of my friends have seen Sachin in nets in Mumbai almost every year felt that Sachin was one of the fittest cricketer. I have some pictures with Sachin in Wankhede dressing room which were taken last year. Even at end of his cricketing career he was not chubby. Never did any of us who saw him practice felt he was chubby, because he never was. Azhar was fit but his test career was half of what Sachin played. Jadeja hardly played any tests so his fitness was never under scrutiny. 50 overs ODI's does not tests the fitness the way test format does. Jadeja's career was too short as compared to that of Sachin. I would never agree with anyone who says that the cricketer who played more cricket than anyone else was not fit . Agility wise yes, there are many agile cricketers than Sachin but fitness and agility are different things.

Fitness does not always mean throwing yourself around like a goal keeper. It means stamina and stealth which Sachin had in abundance. He was among the fastest runners b/w the wickets till the end of his career, which tells you something about his fitness. He had a gun throwing arm and could cover the lengths and breadths of the cricket field. These are the same attributes that Dhoni has and even he's not like Kohli or Raina who can throw himself around. So, isn't even Dhoni fit?

Dhoni is different. He is a naturally strong guy because of that he has carried himself. Even Raina is not that fit who is very chubby. Running fast is a natural ability. Same way throwing arm is also a natural ability. In that aspect, Dravid was also a very fit guy, but was not very fast between the wickets, neither had a great throwing arm. WRT Dhoni and SRT, it is their naturally gifted ability that had enabled them carry for so long. Dhoni is by no means a fitness freak but what helps him take all the burden of keeping, batting, and captaincy is his naturally strong body. SRT got chubbier as time passed.

Stamina is not a natural thing. It is built. I have seen slim as well as well built kids develop stamina. All cricketers are fit. 90% of those cricketers who make international teams start playing nets right from age of 6 years. So it is almost a decade years of daily nets practice, club level matches which make them fit to play 50 overs and test cricket even though stamina does not naturally comes to everyone. It is developed from the time they join nets and continues to improve as they attend nets and play matches often. It's not the stuff of unfit people to play even 40 overs cricket. I have observed that some people even struggled to stand in the heat for the course of 50 over matches we played. To believe that cricketers who play 50 overs and test cricket are unfit is unimaginable. Having played 50 overs matches, i would not say that to any of the cricketers at least in the aspects of fitness.
