Is it a possibility that Selectors are sending a message to Dhoni' date=' "Since you don't play him we don't include him in the squad". Whatever it is , there is much more involvement than Dhoni, Sandip Patil. There are some [b']external forces clearly involving in the selection of guys like Panni, Ishant.

That SA pitch was far more spinner friendly than you will ever see overseas. You do not see such pitches overseas. Jadeja did well in CT and those pitches were drier than usual English pitches because Ashes they left them dry to assist Swann and negative Aussie pacers. We will not see such pitches in our test series.
What about last tour of England? He did well in ODI's there. CT, was held in June-July the same time the 5 test match series is held. Even the odi's last tour was held in August. So pitches might support spin.

June-July does not matter. Pitches depend on weather and how they are prepared. We played in July-Sept too last time and pitches weren't really spin friendly. Last year, pitches were prepared dry to keep an eye on Ashes to negate Aussie pacers and help for Swann. I had never seen pitches like CT last year in England before. Dont expect they will throw pitches like those for us. If we get such pitches, we can certainly play 2 spinners, not just one. It all depends on the conditions. If we get conditions like 2011, we better play 4 pacers. By the time ODIs come, pitch might start helping spin more at the end of the season, but not in June-July. Jadeja didnt set the scene on fire even last time in ODIs in 2011, averaged 38 with 4 wickets in 3 ODIs. Ashwin had done better, averaging 25

6 batsmen and 5 bowlers is the way to go. Jadeja can play as the 7th batsmen and 5th Bowler. But then Dhoni would have to bat at 6.

He did well overall with the ball, bat, and field. With a score of 78 anchoring an innings.

We need a bowler at 8 in tests, more than a batsman. ODI, he will certainly play but tests, Dhoni should not hesitate to go with 4 pacers even if he thinks he failed at Perth with 4 pacers but there he played Legend.

Ishant took 16 or 18 wickets in two tests vs. NZ ..could not have been dropped after that ..Umesh should have been in the squad in place of Varun Aaron ..
He took 0/164 in NZ and 0/143 in RSA Everybody seems to forget that

What a misleading headline and some silly write up. Pankaj Singh has made it to the squad due to appeasement? This joke of a writer should look at the number of wickets he's taken season after season. Umesh has been unfairly excluded from the squad but to criticize Pankaj's selection is as idiotic as it can get.
diversion tactic used by Roger Binny cronies IMO.

I am just sick of seeing Ishant Sharmas, Vinay Kumars playing game after game over genuine pacers like U.Yadav and V.Arun.. This Pankaj might be a hard worker and all, but lets be honest, his 129-131 are good for scaring domestic batsmen ... He won't be able to do jack in England... Seriously absence of U.Yadav in the squad is effed up...

Swann has retired, England will go to swinging decks for Anderson, Broad, Stokes and Jordan. A spinner at this point will have to play a Nathan Lyon role in bowling tight and attacking for a wicket.

And suggestion of including Harbhajan based on his IPL performance :cantstop:

binny is the type of bowler who will do well in english conditions. what india needs is guys who can keep a lid on scoring to pressure the english to get out. nobody in india is good enough to get batsmen out themselves. yadav might look good bowling to sub standard indian club batsmen in the ipl but it'll be whole different kettle of fish bowling in test cricket.
