Interesting analysis about Bumrah's bouncers and his bowling post his comeback from a stress fracture

https://www.espncricinfo.com/story/south-africa-vs-india-3rd-test-the-jasprit-bumrah-bouncer-why-has-it-lost-its-bite-1296106

For the first time since test debut, Bumrah has started to disappoint me at times.

He is played only in overseas tests and ICC LOI tournaments. Gets sufficient rest as a result. But still bowls within himself atleast 70% of the time these days.

Bumrah, bowling flat out, is still very dangerous. But that doesn't happen often enough.

His zip and bounce off the deck has definitely reduced.

Needs to find a solution.

Even Shami is bowling well within himself in the last 12 months. Depending on amazingly impeccable lines and lengths can be a hit and miss thing. It was a hit in the first test but a miss in the 2nd test as those amazingly good lines and lengths were not hit (  and it is not possible to always do so ).  Missing the fiery Shami of 2016 to 2020.

They are playing for longevity in career and IPL. Can't say I blame them....it is a career for them and money does matter.

Wonder if impromper gym work out increases the injury chances. I am not sure his form is correct here.

No his form looks good except for the last deadlift that he did. He is fine. Got a bit lazy in the end maybe.

Do these techniques work? Looks weird.

 Loo

Not sure what this is for. Tbh. We used to use cables with lower weight to develop the acceleration required for shoulder rotation. I am sure these pros do a lot of it too and possibly other variations which I am not familiar familiar at all.

This one is definitely weird. Never seen it before.

Should also be looking at pitches, in 2018-19 the tracks were definitely more spicy than what we faced last year. The numbers will show accordingly with the entire bowling lineup.

This is what Dravid said about our bowling failure ....

"It felt like the ball misbehaved a little bit more for them. That could be because of height because on an up and down wicket, having that extra height tends to make a difference. They have that height advantage; we bowlers tend to pitch the ball up a little more, kiss the surface more."

My question to Mr.Dravid is .... this was a well known fact. Why did he not include pacers like Prasidh and Avesh in the pool or Saini in the squad ?  Why are Nagaswalla and D.Chahar being groomed instead ?   (   Ishant Sharma has become a kiss the surface pacer nowadays and not the solution  )

Prasidh Krishna could have been so ideal for these tracks in test matches.

Ishant Sharma the tall workhorse all set to play today. He will most likely bowl harmless floaty deliveries and keep it tight. Wish we had Prasidh in the team :wall:

He actually meant 100 test demolition man Ishant

What use are the A tours if someone like Saini can't be picked despite bowling so well? Vihari will again be benched despite doing well in the chance he got. Iyer will not get to play in SA after grabbing the chance he got.

While all the seniors continue to hog onto their places irrespective of performance. And that includes Umesh and Ishant, who are well past it.

Nothing changes, the motto remains Indian cricket is run for and by the non-performing seniors cabal for whom self interest is all that matters. With this same old attitude, minimal hopes of any ICC trophy wins under the new TM as well.

Siraj is unfit,so is Thakur(he may not do workhorse's job regularly),you need fit bowlers to stamp your authority

Prasidh for Siraj,Saini/Umesh as cover for Thakur

Capetown ,i wud go with Venky Iyer over Ashwin(just on instinct)

And clearly absolutely no Ishant

Umesh seems to have also lost his bite now, as was evident in the series vs NZ at home. Wasn't bowling quick enough to get any reverse swing. Time to move on or at best use him very sparingly when both Bumrah and Shami are not available.

We'll play Tests vs SL at home next. Siraj and Prasidh/Saini/Avesh have to be the two pacers. No Bumrah, Shami, Umesh or Ishant. Let Bumrah and Shami rest and recuperate.

umesh 33

shami 31 he claims. real age is 35 36

ishant is 33 34

we are ageing. need to move on yes. or rotate every alternate game to keep them fresh. they are still too good for 2 out of 4 games. in the alternate games use other talents.

Surprise surprise Umesh is in and not Ishant. Umesh on current form is not much of an upgrade over Ishant. Umesh has been down on pace for some time now. High time we move on from these two. Prasidh or Saini could have been tried.

I don't understand why almost everyone connected to Indian cricket is so stubborn and " Seniority Oriented ".

It is really tough to understand why Prasidh and Saini are not being brought in as the " Taller and quicker pacer variant " . Most team want only these kinds of pacers and we don't want even one.
