Very disappointed with Mavi.

Just gently putting the ball there at low pace, without any zip and bounce.

Agree with you, although I am not disappointed bcoz I already knew how he bowls.

He doesn't look like a long term prospect at all.

On a pitch that was gripping ..

ER of Spinners and Slower Ball Specialist ...

Chahal.          13.0

Axar.               10.3

Harshal.         10.2

Theekshana.   7.2

Hasaranga.     5.5

The spinners etc. we are picking are not up to the mark, especially Chahal and Harshal.

chahal is a non-spinning floater these days. that trick of bowling wide and full outside off won't work against lankans.

as for harshall, he thinks he is a genuine quick, but he lacks the pace to bowl short balls and hurry batters for pace. that is better left to quicker pacers

Just want to mention these guys. Not saying anything. They are who they are.

Sad bunch. Sadists. They don't deserve to even be called out. I just couldn't resist these 2 clowns on commentary. It is abominable. High time both get sacked. I just don't want to hear it anymore. Just one question though? If say a foreign white player bowls 150 plus like nortje or wood, do the 2 buffoons go giddy and worship them?

of course they do. plenty of examples of both of them fawning over nortje, lockie, wood, etc. and admiring their speeds, actions, aggression, muscles, other parts of the body, etc.

I am hopeful...  Don't think he is a 145 bowler anymore but he can be a 140kph at least.  It was his debut & he did well in a low scoring game.

At least we didn't select a 29-30 year old washed up off cutter pacer.  Or heck I'll watch Mavi all day over Boobie bhaiya.

but he wasn't a 140 kph bowler at all today. he was floating the balls in low 130s, some even in high 120s.

This set-up seems to be promoting and showing much love towards 130kmphish bowler, Umran too clocked 150+ only once.

He is slower than what he was bowling in IPls, no sharp bouncer on batters' noggin. He was hitting all Ind super stars on their lids v.consistently.

Nothing of that kind in Intl. matches

In last 5-6 years Ind has come-up so far in fast bowling that at one time they were considered as the best bowling attack and there were results to show for it.

Not sure why they are going back to Trundlers when there are many high pace and 2-3 v.high pace bowlers. If this mind-set remains for 3/4 years Ind pace bowling will be on their old ways of having 125Kmph bowlers opening the bowling for Ind and other teams non-regular AR bowling faster than them

Umran is easily the quickest indian bowler. That 155 is easily the fastest by an Indian.

I see a lot of discussion about Srinath.

Srinath at one point in time genuinely fast. But not express. Most likely in mid 140s. He bowled one ball at 149.9 kph in the 1999 WC.

Some say he hit 157 kph against Zimbabwe in 1996-97. Officially no such record exists. But Srinath could have hit the early 150s. 157 kph? I doubt it.

though shivam mavi got 4 wickets , i was not too impresed with him.

Views please.......

He was disappointing for me to watch, he is running slowly and just not putting any effort. Pace looks real pedestrian.

On top of it I don't recall him hitting Yorkers consistently even in IPL and has only off cutters as variation. I won't be surprised if he gets mauled next match.

Pandya's spell with the new ball was really something. Easily the most enjoyable part of the game for me.

Swinging ball both ways at 142-144 kmph. He is such a talented cricketer. I believe he gave up on being a genuine pace bowling option after injuries in 2019. If we had handled him carefully he would have played a lot of tests in SENA.

One thing can be easily said.

That Umran is the first Indian pacer who can bowl 150k+ balls in almost every match he plays and 145 k+ seems to be his base speed in white ball cricket.

Undoubtedly, Umran is a genuine express pacer and I believe he can hit the 160 kph barrier as well if he can get a bowling coach who supports genuine pace.

Harshal at the end in contention of Man of the Match, when he singlehandedly tried to manufacture a SL win.

When will this guy be dumped for the team, he will cost India a final in the WC. A nothing bowler and once batsmen realize this, they will plough him.

If we do that, then we have to discount most speeds recorded from 1975 to 2010 or thereabouts.

I am all for it as most modern quicks looks faster to me to the naked eye.

But it cannot be an one off discounting exercise for Srinath alone.

No way do I believe Thompson bowled 160kmhr.

IIRC the way fast bowlers speed was recorded back then is very different compared to today.
