It's not about what pace they are bowling, more about they are able to crank it up whenever needed.

You will see Shami or Bumrah easily bowling around 90 mph if they are looking to do so even in 3rd session of the day.

If they are able to execute plans at lower speed then they don't try to put in extra effort for that.

Earlier bowlers who were fast, even they would drop pace and shoulders in 3rd session of the day. That rarely happens with these bowlers.

I guess the word is intensity, not the pace. These bowlers are able to maintain intensity.

Intensity is a big issue. Bumrah and Shami can bowl with intensity and objectivity most of the time.

And it is not just about release speeds either.

Both Bumrah and Shami have the ability to hit the deck hard and extract life out of pitches. Get both seam movement and bounce from most decks. And they know what needs to be done to take wickets.

Saini is as quick as Bumrah in terms of release speeds ... but he does not use this ability of extracting life out of pitches or cannot use it most of the time.

And additionally, Bumrah usually bowls lots of 140 k to 145 k balls  and Shami 137 k to 143k balls throughout the day. When that is not happening, it is usually a niggle or injury, as we found out in the 3rd test regarding Bumrah.

Rauf has played just 3 FC matches and averages 39.

Why has he been picked ?

There is another seamer ... Tabish Khan ... who is supposedly 36 years old and yet to debut. This means he can be a 40+ year old seamer.

Strange selections.

Lol. 36 being 40 is so Pakistan

Siraj bowling 135 k to 140 k in his 2nd spell today ... and hitting the deck hard.

Has bowled some sizzling bouncers, albeit on a bouncy and quick pitch today.

A miscued pull from Starc fell at the vacant mid on. Would have been an easy catch if there was a fielder.

But this is the bowling style I want to see from Siraj when the ball is not swinging.  And Siraj can bowl quicker than this too.

Cummins 147.3

Last 10 balls from him have all been 142+

Cummins bowling his quickest spell in the 4th test.

I think his quickest ball in the first 3 tests was 145 k.

2020-21 has been Cummins's quickest year after comeback from multiple injuries early in his career.
