In the 25 years of speed readings being shown, Starc is the best in terms of sustaining speeds in test matches. Have seen lots of 130 to 135 k from Johnson too .. but never Starc. Even at almost age 35, Starc is almost always 137 k to 144 k despite playing his 4th test on the trot. Just amazing !

Cummins was ducking but he did that nonchalantly. Wasn't hurried by that. Pitch is slowish for Australia. Even Starc is not hurrying with the older ball.

Johnson was fast only for 2-2.5 years when he was bowling 145+ kmph regularly in test. Rest he was okish, Aus would not pick him even because he was wayward and not hat quick tht on his good day he will win the game for the team.
vishalvirsingh Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Very disappointed by siraj. Harshit or prasidh should play ahead of him in 5th test express bowling and ind_hyd1 2

ind_hyd1 Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Going by the way Rohit batted today won't be a bad idea for him to announce retirement and let either Gill or Paddikal takeover that number 3 spot. I really don't see any value in him being with the squad. He was a great white ball player and we would remember him for his contributions in the world cup(2015,2019 and 2023), apart form recent T20 world cup. It's time for the youngsters to take over. At least let the transition start from Sydney, these youngsters won't feel out of place when they are in next series in england.

I think he played against India for the first time in 2006-07 in ODI series, his pace was the talk in that series as he was clocking 145+ consistently and hurrying the batters. But his pace fluctuated coz he didn't had a strong body and kept on getting injured often. tapandrun and Vijy 2

Johnson had his problems coz he used to get injured frequently, hence couldn't hit his peak pace. Was even bowling 130-140 in 2010-11 Ashes when he was dropped by Australia.

vignesh12345 Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 When a player becomes Indian, he becomes inferior. The more white or black a player is, the more superior he is. In 2018-2019, Bumrah hit the deck as though he wanted to create a hole on the pitch. He bowled like he was a black guy or an Aussie HTD fast bowler. Nowadays, he is a 100% Indian, never hits the deck, and is ugly to boot. Sam Konstas demonstrated just how much aura he has lost since that back injury in 2019. Bumrah had the opportunity to create an aura in 2019. Somewhere, he made a blunder in fitness preparation during that West Indies tour in 2019. Following that, he never recovered that hit the deck ability that made him so un-Indian. AuxiliA 1
vignesh12345 Posted December 27, 2024 Posted December 27, 2024 Greatness for a fast bowler is not numbers. It is how hard you hit the deck, and consequently, how un-Indian you are. The greatest fast bowlers have been as un-Indian as it gets - Pat Cummins, Curtley Ambrose, Joel Garner.. White women have lost themselves in appreciation for these players. The current version of Bumrah is 100% indian, bowls full, looks for swing, and will never win the appreciation of a white woman.

The day white women start batting against India, we will talk about white women. I don't even understand where do white women feature in discussion about fast bowling. Bumrah has had his days. One only needs to study fast bowlers historically and one will find that 90% of the express fast bowlers have been genuine fast during the 1st 3 yrs of their careers, or perhaps the mid 2-3 yrs of their career. Whether it's Waqar, or Donald, Patterson, Steyn ..... Bumrah bowled his fastest during 2016/17- 2020/21 'ish. It's foolish to expect him to bend his back and try to hit 150. Someone else has to take that mantle and do it for him. You can't be a strike and a shock bowler, combined, for such a long duration. It's laughable to think that. Bumrah still is sharp enough, and is deadly. That's all that matters. Let Mayank bowl at 150. It's for the selectors to understand such a basic phenomena. Vijy 1
