That's just you. But yeah athletes normally get better with subsequent generations, the speed guns in 2003 wc were definitely inflated. Lee was on average faster than Akthar who has fitness issues and could not sustain his initial express pace.

TBH I dont think any bowler has come close to bowling as quick as Lee at his prime. Even in 2005/6, Lee used to hit mid 150s regularly. Remember him bowling quick in New Zealand that year. Even in 2005 Ashes which had Harmison and Flintoff at their peak, Lee was bowling some spells at 150-155. When Lee/Akhtar/Tait were bowling fast, there was this disparity in pace vs the rest. They were a class apart. But Lee held his speeds higher for longer in his career coz he was extremely fit unlike the others. Tait was probably quickest around 2008/9. Remember that T20 series in Australia vs Pakistan. They couldn't touch bat on ball in his first over. Then Johnson started bowling quick and peaked in that Ashes series. Since then we've had lots of high 140's occasional low 150's guys but not as fast. If Wood indeed manages to hold this kind of pace, then he will be in that bracket as well. Umran clearly has the potential to bowl at those speeds, 100 percent.

Lee was the fastest with Tait equally or just behind,then was Akhtar

Wood is right up there,but im sure had he played in that era he too would have been 156+ regularly

Nehra clocked 150 kmph in 2003 WC. I doubt he ever touched 145 anywhere else. 2003 WC speed guns were massively inflated.

Nehra clocked 143 k to 145 k in other places too in the early 2000s.

That means Dravid and Chetan etc. really want to destroy the one thing that was working for India .... Our Test match high quality and Quick Bowling. 

 

They just want " Safe Medium pacers ". Just how defensive is this Dravid guy !!!!

 

P.S -- The other explanation could be that Unadkat has been forced on the Team by some highly placed BCCI guy stating his Ranji stats. The departing selectors have complained of interventions by highly placed BCCI officials.

Bro, is Lord Unadcutter close to Jay Shah? I don't have any other explanation for this ****. It would have been logical to pick players who are already playing in the A team there like Saini or Mukesh. Unadcutter from nowhere makes it to the team. It's clear someone higher up is pulling strings. Sad day for fast bowling fans.

Bro, I don't think it's Shah as he is from Gujarat Association and Unadkat is from Saurashtra.

5 to 8 k inflated. Which is par as akthar and Lee were 152 to 154 elsewhere. I guess they took the fastest reading to get some excitement.

Not really. Both clocked 155-160 kph multiple times. In 2006, test series, akhtar clocked 157-158k. Brett Lee in 2005 clocked 160 against NZ.

Nope they were certainly quicker in the wc now that could be down to them trying harder but more probably the speed guns.

Cherry picked stats does not mean anything, aktar was at his  fastest in wc 2003 so were many other bowlers, Zak, nehra sl bowler was that dilhara Fernando etc and couple of wi pacers. Each one at their fastest, simple explanation faster speed readings due to calibration or sampling choice.
